I'm telling you, you're not going to like riding in the late fall/winter. That wind is too much, and it's too cold no matter what you're wearing. That wind just bites right through it. At least that's how it is in my experience. Stick to riding inside if you can until spring. It's too cold to ride at any length at about sub-50 degrees. And exert yourself on the road and know what you're doing. Cars won't run over you so easily otherwise. That and communication with other cars.
Yeah, I'm wondering how it'll go in the cold as well, but I do have some experience with it from when I worked at the FedEx hub a few years back and road around on the tugs at night. If it is too bad I know of some decent spinning classes I could attend until spring. As far as safety, yeah I figure I'll apply the applicable Smith System rules: Aim high in steering, Get the big picture, Keep your eyes moving, Leave yourself an out, and Make sure you're seen!! Oh God I'll never forget those, lol.
