WoWing it up lately

So, since I don't know / didn't know many people who play on a regular basis, I pretty much played solo. This of course meant that if the guild I was in didn't feel like running an instance, I didn't get to do it. Pretty quickly I learned that pickup groups were pretty much fail situations. You'd get partway through an instance, and then people would get the one thing they wanted from it, and quit. There are several instances I did get to run where I only got to see a small fraction.

Now, especially with the achievement system in place (well, it's been there a while, but I took 7 months off from the game), and leveling not a concern anymore, I'm taking some time off from questing and moneymaking to go back and solo some old content.

Last night, I soloed Uldaman and LBRS, got 2 new pets, got exalted with Orgrimmar, and got a stack of new mounts.

Uldaman had quite a shocker of an ending. I'm glad I did this one. Anyone who is a lore geek needs to make sure you've done this one. It directly ties with the WoLK content (earthen, titans, makers terraces questions answered) AND answers the primary questions that the dwarven leader is looking for with his archaeology mandate. (Not to mention it has the parody of the Raiders of the Lost Ark map room sequence.) Although, I can't think of a reason to do it again.

LBRS took a while, and is a very convoluted path, I may farm this one for runecloth unless I find a better place to do so. Running the whole instance netted me 13 stacks and a Hanzo sword (not very good for my level, BUT it is a BoE blue item that fetches $$$ in the auction). There are quests that give you pets as a reward (smolderweb spider, worg pup). Warning, do not do the 'mothers milk' quest, and make sure you have something that can remove the debuff if you get it. Also, for some reason, the attunement item from this instance, the gemstone didn't drop off the Ogre boss, so i guess i have to do that again next time i'm farming for cloth for rep.

After that, i turned in the runecloth I picked up to finish getting exalted with Orgrimmar. This of course meant that I could go buy all the wolf mounts, which i did. The spider is creepy. The worg pup isn't cute...just looks like a full grown one that somebody shrank.

Monday, I did Razorfen Downs (zzz, though not nearly as annoying as Wailing Caverns), Zul'Farrak (pretty cool, neat having and instance outside where you can mount up, plus the Stairs event is pretty cool, no need to repeat.) Maraudon (skip it unless you want the acheivement, boring), and ALL THREE WINGS OF DIRE MAUL. This was my first time coming back since doing the dreadsteed quest way way back, and even then, it was just to do East long enough to get the key for West to do the quest, and even then it was only as far as defeating Immol'thar to use the summoning circle.

Sunday, I finished all the soloable quests in Storm Peaks I could find (getting the Summit of Storm Peaks acheivement), and started the Icecrown quests. I couldn't find any at first, then after converting one enemy area to a town with a flight point, and it becoming a quest hub, I'm guessing the whole area is going to be like that. Also, I finally got my Epic flying and Epic flying mount.

Part of me wants to keep soloing the old instances until I find where my limit is, part of me wants to keep questing, but the part that's winning right now is to take a night off and play the new Call of Juarez game.
