I'm sure no one would want me to make them a pair of these. they are basicly a leather sock, and at site, isn't there something about shoes needing to have a rubber sole?
Shoes for Faire don't have to have rubber soles--they have to have hard soles. I have thick leather soles on my Faire shoes (made-to-measure by Lady Oren)and they are not as practical as rubber soles (I don't always get enough traction going downhill) but they guard my feet against the gravel. JAR

the design I'm using starts off with this pre-10th century shoe http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-carlson/shoe/SHOES/SHOE55.HTM
using that as a base, I build it up with something simmilare to http://www.medievalmoccasins.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=MM&Category_Code=TB only I use a straight piece of leather instead of tabs.
right now I'm looking at a way to build up the sole to be more then a single piece of leather
