On the bright side - I have had some excellent comedies to keep me going. I recommend "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Baby Mamma" -- so nice to relax and have a good laugh! Also, South Park has been cracking me up :-)

hello new LJ friend!

I've been wanting to see Forgetting Sarah Marshall since last week but I haven't made it out yet. I'm getting burned out on Apatow related comedies though, Superbad and Knocked Up were good but not phenomenal like 40 Year Old Virgin, and I was so disappointed in Walk Hard so... I guess I'm a little hesitatnt. But it was good?

I'm similarly concerned about Baby Mama - I heart Tina Fey and Amy Poelher but neither of them wrote the film so I'm kinda worried that it will be disappointing.

Hi there - thanks for the comment. I really enjoyed Sarah Marshall -- more than Superbad. It's probably not quite as amazing as the 40 Year Old Virgin, but that's hard to do since it was so original. Sarah M. is really funny and there's more to the characters than you would expect from this type of movie. With regard to Baby Mama, it's a bit choppy in the beginning - like a series of SNL sketches, but then it starts to flow better. I went in with moderate expectations and it was entertaining enough to distract me from the end of semester stress!

back to writing :-)
