It so frustrating when my study plans are foiled. Occasionally I need to get out of my house and into the world to study. It keeps me off the internet and boosts my energy to be out in the world. Unfortunately, there are so few places that are really good for studying -- that have a mix of treats (chai), good space and lighting, and background ( Read more... )

You'll make it through. I know what you mean about finding the idea work space, I'm sorry to hear your beloved coffee shop has closed. Those coffee shops are SO important to us grad students.

Comps - they seem like an insurmountable obstacle and then when you're on the other side of it, you forget the pain and wonder why you drove yourself made in the first place.

thanks for the support! it's so hard to imagine being on the other side of this...
i wonder if there are hormones released after the defense that make you forget the pain, like in childbirth :-)

Yes, I think there are!
Then we go into what I call "comps hibernation" for about 1 month before resurfacing.
