So now I'm in a rehab facility - the activity therapy room has an old desktop that patients can use; use is limited - I get tortured in PT once a day, and am beginning to feel more like I belong here today - they brought me a tv (each bed is supposed to have one; mine didn't) Speech therapy and Occupational therapy both said I don't need their ( Read more... )

At least you've got a net connection.

Here's hoping you can get out of there as soon as possible!

At least they haven't taken away your clothes while you weren't looking and put name labels into them. They did that to my mother when she was in the nursing home for rehab only after her accident in 2006. I went ballistic.

they certainly threatened it today - I pointed out that I was only here for 2 weeks, only for PT, and expected my husband would be taking my clothes home to wash; if she insisted I would let her, but I didn't have much here yet, and she didn't insist - she obviously wanted me to agree to it, and I wanted her to say she had to. she "went away to let me think about it"

We found out that they had taken Mom's clothes when they brought them back to her room. They had taken them when she was out having PT. I was not pleased, and believe me, they were in no doubt about that fact when I was through with them. My mother may be in her eighties, but she is far from feeble minded, and like you, was only there for rehab. After a couple of distressing incidents on the first day that she was there, we decided that she would not be left alone in that place at any time.

Yay! Internet!

And you need us to come and sneak you in some REAL food? lolol

I hope you get through your PT well, and that you are able to get out of there soon.

Keep us posted. :)

Now, all you have to do is convince them that using the 'net is part of your PT routine, and you'll get extra time.

Here's hoping you're out of there (and on the road to walking upright without pain) very soon.

It should be part of her routine; she has to learn how to bend her knee appropriately, without bending it too far, while she's doing various activities, and that *should* include sitting for long periods at the computer since this is a normal day-to-day activity.
