RELAUNCHED as my spoilers in media journal

I've mostly shifted to expressing my thoughts on Facebook, despite not liking it as much as I like LJ. BUT, Facebook does not have a good way to handle spoilers, so my LJ is REBORN, like a phoenix, as my place for spoilers.

I was pretty shocked by the whole episode. I'm glad to see the adults getting some storyline action. This episode was on the level of season 1's episode where Will finds out about Terri's deception.

I felt horrible about Rachel blowing her audition, which is saying something because over the last 2 seasons, I've grown to dislike Rachel a great deal. She needed a reality check that maybe she's not as special as she thinks she is. Yes, she can sing, but she's a bit of a one-trick pony. She does big vocals. That's pretty much it. She's come to think that everyone should kowtow to her because she's A STAR, dammit! Maybe she just needs a few more slushies to the face.

The cell block tango number was just a huge embarrassment, and I'm glad that Roz and Sue dressed them down for it.

I was kinda shocked by their picking Cell Block Tango. Sure, female empowerment, good idea, but I don't think "female empowerment" means killing your men, even your jerky men. Especially if you sing about it in lingerie.

Glee has been fairly schizo about what the status of the Glee Club is this season. They get slushied, but people seem to like them too. WTF?

This episode, to me, really felt like a filler episode.

Yes, there were the NYADA auditions, but that took all of five minutes?

So the whole domestic abuse sub-plot really seemed much more like a 'well, crap - we've got 35 minutes to kill here, and we need something to occupy (literally) every other female character on the show' type thing.

If they were going to deal with something as big as domestic abuse, it would have been better as a back-story arc for a few episodes, capped off by a focus episode.

Same with Puck. While I enjoyed hearing 'The Rain in Spain...' it just seemed like more filler.

And as much as I am sometimes frustrated by Rachel, I SERIOUSLY doubt that she'd blow the lines on any song by Barbara - especially that one, which she has already blown out of the water in competition.

The entire episode just seem really contrived.

I was not a fan of The Rain in Spain number. I have serious doubts that any teenage male would be familiar with My Fair Lady, let alone be able to turn that song into a hard rock number.

I knew Rain in Spain as a teenager, but the justification for it was really stretched.

Yeah, and the thing is, if they ever return to the domestic abuse plot line, I'll be surprised.
