I don't know if any of you caught this news story but I actually sat in my office and cried earlier today, after watching this footage from Austria.

Thirty years ago a group of chimps were taken from their mothers shortly after birth by a medical research company in Austria, and injected with HIV and hepatitis. The pharma company was sold in 1997,

I suppose that they will always have to live in confinement? It is such a terrible affair that we tend to sacrifice another living intelligent being to save our own lives. Thankfully, medical science is learning how to test new drugs without involving other species.

I believe so from what I've read - they haven't developed the necessary skills to fend for themselves fully in the wild. I just hope they are now properly cared for and given the chance to live fuller, happier lives than they've been allowed to up to now.
