today in my American radicalism history class we watched a movie about the Berkeley student riots and such during the 1960s. Watching it, I couldn't help but compare them to hippies today. I know that may sound republican saying this, but hippies today suck. Back then it was just a group of kids at college who decided "hey, the vietnam war sucks

kelly baur wrote a really amazing speech for our graduation, she auditioned to be a grad speaker but they denied her. her speech was very similar to what you just wrote, essentially it said "FUCKING RIOT". it just accused us all of complaining about things we do nothing to change, and that 40 years ago they would have just RIOTED. except it was much more well worded. of course the administration didnt choose her, but it was a very inspiring speech if i recall. this just reminded me of it. i wish we could have heard that rather than alex ryer tell us how great high school was.
