The usual venting.

For anyone that wonders why I like baseball.... my team is fantastic and hilarious. They make me smile and be happy. Here's why:

Unity, April Fool's Day mix
Granderson's idea takes on whole new level with Tigers

By Jason Beck / MLB.com

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Jim Leyland told his players it was time to rub elbows with their teammates. The Tigers took it a step further and gave each other the jerseys off their backs.

When Curtis Granderson took his usual spot in center field for the top of the first inning against the Braves on Wednesday, he was wearing Josh Anderson's jersey, and vice versa for Anderson in right. Justin Verlander took the mound looking a little baggy in Gerald Laird's No. 8, but more comfortable than Laird in Verlander's 35 behind the plate. Brandon Inge went to third base wearing the bat boy's jersey.
What started as an April Fool's joke somehow turned into an exercise in team unity.

"A little fun," said Granderson. "A long spring."

In fact, every Tiger in the starting lineup, and everyone on the big league roster, had a different jersey on. Some of them had logic to them. Others were out there.

Granderson was actually the mastermind behind the idea, though he didn't intend for it to get this big. His brainstorm for an April Fool's joke was to have Anderson take the field in a Braves jersey, which he wore all spring until the Tigers traded for him earlier this week. The logistics didn't work on that, so he came up with a better idea.

"Let's go ahead and just switch uniforms amongst ourselves," Granderson said.

Once Granderson and Anderson made the switch, the idea caught on quickly. Soon, everyone wanted in on the act.

"I'm sure somebody was probably going to plant it on someone anyways, accidentally put someone's jersey on," Granderson said. "So we'll just all do it."

The Tigers let Leyland in on the joke ... sort of. Laird went into Leyland's office and asked if he was fine with the players rubbing elbows. They didn't mention how until a little before game time. He had no problem with it.

Some guys, such as middle infielders Adam Everett, Placido Polanco and Ramon Santiago, made their swaps by jersey size. Others had their own reasoning. Jeff Larish remembered a young kid asking for his autograph earlier this spring, mistaking him for Marcus Thames, so he and Thames switched jerseys. Verlander and Laird wanted to switch up the pitching battery. Magglio Ordonez, the designated hitter for the day, put on Hall of Famer Al Kaline's jersey.

Miguel Cabrera briefly tried on Inge's jersey, but it was clearly too small, so he ended up with Armando Galarraga's jersey instead. The bat boy jersey, though, fit surprisingly well on Inge.

The kicker, however, came from Fernando Rodney, who asked Leyland if he could wear his No. 10 jersey when he took the mound for his relief inning.

"He asked me before the game, 'Can I wear your jersey,'" Leyland recalled. "I said, 'How are you going to pitch?' He said, 'Good.' I said, 'Well, you can wear my jersey, then.'"

Rodney pitched a scoreless inning.

"I had a pretty good changeup, didn't I," Leyland joked.

Hilarious.
In other news, I am down to my last two final papers for the semester.  I'm kind of excited about that. I finally finished one, had it checked and turned in.  Today I'm determined at work to get some headway through the research I have for one of my other papers. I essentially have 20 days to get through 30 pages of research papers.
In the meantime, the more that next semester approaches, the more it's sinking in that I won't have enough money to pay for classes this semester. I desperately need the weather to stay good so that things can grow and I can go back to the farm and make money NOW.  Or get a new job that pays more so I can stop stressing.  I will also need health insurance because I'm old enough to not be covered by my mom's insurance anymore.  Not even to touch the wedding and my inability  to help Trent pay for our wedding.  Aside from that I still have the infection and other crap from like a month ago.  It's been over a month with this stupid infection that would have been fine without treatment but no, being on so many antibiotics, most of which haven't worked, have just screwed me up more.  I have finally gone to get a second opinion, was put on a different antibiotic that has helped some things but messes with my stomach so any bit of stress or if I don't stay full, I feel nauseous or get cramps in my side and as much as I love feeling like my appendix is going to burst....
I'm sick of being sick, I'm sick of stressing about school and money and papers...
And yesterday I decided I'm sick of always catering to others.  I love to pamper people and take care of them but when I ask for a little emotional care myself, it sucks when I can't get it or have to fight for it.  (This is specifically directed to people physically close.  If I've been able to just chat or vent with those more distant, it has helped).   This has created all sorts of other issues. I'm not in the mood with dealing with other issues. I have enough issues to deal with.
Venting aside, Life is ok. Spring is starting to come around, even if it did snow over the weekend. I powered through a ton of things at Trent's last weekend (painting closet doors never put up after our painting projects, raking and thatching the front yard, straightening the main part of the house, full out cleaning/ completely reorganizing of two rooms,  doing random little fix-it things and baked like crazy -banana bread, zucchini bread, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, lasagna with salad and garlic bread for dinner - all from scratch)  so that made me feel productive, even if I didn't get any of my stuff done. Made me feel like spring cleaning was getting done.
Anyhow it's time to pretend like I want to get out of bed.  Had a good night's sleep and I have to be on the road to work in a little while. So off to work with me.  Hope things are good with everyone else.
