The Melting Pot

Jul 14, 2013 04:12

Becky and Malayia went with me last Wednesday to have my second labs drawn. We turned it into a girls' evening out, which was good. It made the time pass quickly and those girls could make me laugh no matter the circumstances.

We had dinner at The Melting Pot, something we've wanted to do for a while. We had the 4-Course Experience. Cheese, ( Read more... )

I've only been once, but we liked the entree the best!

How did you cook yours? I doubt that I would ever want an entree again, but I'm certain if I did I would try a different cooking style/broth/oil/something.

We did the boring bouillon, I don't remember the name now. :) It had chicken, steak, lobster, that's all I remember. We used our phones as timers. The menu changes and I look it up every once and awhile but I haven't seen an entree lineup that makes me want to go back because it was expensive. I thought that raw veggies in cheese were kind of gross, and the bread was dry but the cheese was good (we went traditional). We liked the salad. We had the traditional chocolate course and I thought that was ho hum, pretty good but not mind blowing.

We should have had the vegetable broth - we paid extra for the Mojo that stank, both literally and figuratively! Another friend posted below that when she went, they recommended the oil because it was faster and tastier. They didn't mention either thing to us and we thought the calories would be better wasted on chocolate than oil to fry meat. ;) We used our phones as timers, too.

Our bread was really good, especially the honey wheat. I ate several cubes of it plain.

I'm sure the traditional chocolate would be good, but the Flaming Turtle we had was AMAZING! It totally redeemed the entree debacle. Lol.

It *was* expensive, but if I go again, it will be for cheese and chocolate only, maybe even salad, but I will skip the entree and it would be much cheaper! Someone else posted below they saw a Groupon for it recently and it sounded like a really good deal.

Aww, I'm glad you had a nice girls night out. Sorry your entree wasn't the greatest. Years ago wordsalad and I (and some other people) went out for fondue and it was one of the best food experiences ever! If I recall correctly, they suggested cooking the meats in oil, not broth, because it was quicker (and tastier).

That chocolate sounded amazing!!

Indeed - we had such a great time, Erin! I love fondue, but you really have to be willing to put the time and work into it. What kills me is that they can charge you so much for you to cook your own food ;)

Yes, $40+ per person was crazy for food we had to cook! Lol! I never want to try the meat again. It was too gross.

Yeah I would have been upset to have to cook my entree too!

The chocolate sounds like heaven though.

There is an Italian place near us that is pricey but worth it. (Seriously you aren't going to get out of there without spending $100 for two--it isn't a casual dining place at all.) Jeff and I went there for our anniversary once and for dessert we have Nutella ravioli. I swear it was sin on a plate but man was it good!

Apparently, that's the way it's done, we were just ignorant. Lol.

It was expensive - $40 for just me. And I had to cook it myself!!!

Nutella ravioli sounds amazing.

That place is so fun...and expensive...LOL

We're vegetarian and so have never had to do the meat thing there, but yeah, I think cooking it yourself is supposed to be part of the fondue fun.

It was, but it wouldn't have been if we had skipped the entrees. We could've had cheese and chocolate for under $20 each.

I WISH we had chosen the vegetarian option - there was one. It would have been much better. My favorite part of the entree was the potatoes.

We found the cooking it ourselves to be a pita. Lol! We were just ignorant about it, but now we know!

It was worth the trip, even if the entrees were gross. The Flaming Turtle chocolate alone was worth it!
