I'm trying to decide what to do with the bottom of the stairs.

This is how they looked before (first pic taken when we looked at the house, i.e., not our clutter :P):

The more I look at these, the more I think maybe I do, too. Now, square post at the bottom or rounded handrail, too?

I probably would never notice this in someone's house but now that you talk about I, I like the squared steps and squared handrail.

Love the square post. I think the square bottom step only works if it butts up against something, like the built-in bench in the first pic. Otherwise, it's just a bruise waiting to happen.

Haha! This was my thought as well. I saw the corner of the square step and knew that would be something I would always be catching in the shin.

This is true, we would be running against the corner. Definitely rounded step, square post!
