Pleased to meet you . . .

I was raised by tie-dyed wolves in the wilds of Northern CA, my hippy mother moved me and my brother to a bluff by the ocean to live in a teepee and be 'as one' with nature, it was very cold and damp among the elements- it wasn't long before we moved into a real house. My brother and I were barely cared for; we were given concepts and culture in ( Read more... )

I don't think I have ever heard such a touching story about someones life. It's so amazing that you have been through so much and have been able to survive through it all and end up where you are today, im speechless. So are you looking into transfering anywhere with a special major?

There are many, many, people like me, some with much worse stories. I don't reveal this much about myself as a general rule and most people from 'unusual' backgrounds don't talk about it much, so we tend to be invisible.

I don't know where I want to transfer from GCC, but I'm going to aim as high as my math ability will take me lol! I'm a Psych major and starting from absolute scratch, so I know it's going to take some time. I plan to be done with my prerequisites (going to school half-time) in about three years. By then my son will be graduating grammar school and we can move anywhere. I would love to go to Berkeley, just 'cause it's close to my home turf...one little step at a time...

Splendid introduction-
There is so much to be said for moderation and balance in much of a person's life. I'm glad to read that you've reclaimed the middle path, and have garnered wisdom from your experiences.
I'm also fascinated by your wisdom regarding the use of a blog, and I hope to learn much from you use of it. As a life long learner, I approach all my classes with the hope of learning while teaching. Echos can teach us a great deal about our own voices. I hope to hear psychology echo in our community so that we will all learn in the process.

We are already hearing the [[[psychological echo]]] :-)
I'm really not that blog savvy, but I have learned how to prevent misunderstanding in *this* particular form of communication. Now, if I could just apply that to the other forms...lol!
