Spent the first day of the year sleeping in, making a big breakfast, and watching the Rose Parade and the Loony Tunes marathon.

It's not how I hope to influence the rest of this year - but it was a great way to take a break in the middle of a work week.

Ficlets is going away.

For those of you who don't know what Ficlets is:  It's a nice little corner of the Internet brought into existence by AOL back a while ago.  It's main purpose was to give anyone who wanted to write a place to write it - as long as you kept it between 64 and 1024 characters.  Not words - characters.

I've been reading 'reasons to be thankful' pieces all over the 'web lately...which is nice and all.  But with the economy doing a not-so-slow spiral, the movie season doing an imitation of a giant Hoover, and the vet and car maintenance bills almost equaling out this week, I want a reason to be Happy.

Hannah Montana?  You're kidding....right?

In my humble experience, this would be Billy Joel,  "The Bridge"  tour in the fall of 1986 at what was then the Rosemont Horizon, Chicago.  Sold-out show, in the round, and he played to the entire place.  Was truly, truly incredible.

Now that I'm showing my age...
