(no subject)
on monday i had my tikkun olam placement.
at first when i got there it was really awkward because the woman that was in charge of the placement was confused.
first she thought i was yael who comes tuesdays to teach hebrew.
then she thought i was sarah who comes tuesdays to help at a high school club. then finally she realized i was there for the little kids club. so then i had to wait for Tali, the teacher, to come. but she doesnt speak english that well so yeah. and they didnt realize i wasnt fluent in hebrew.
anyways then the club started. at first i was SO overwhelmed and didnt know what to do. tali was telling them about yitzak rabin because it was the 10th anniversary of his death and i didnt know what to do. then they started drawing pictures of israeli flags and things they love. after they started watching tv. two little girls were still coloring so i decided after much debating to take a chance. i started drawing pictures of things that iknew the hebrew words for. (i didnt know the word for draw though) i drew pictures of a cat, dog, tree, heart, flag, house, boy, girl, family and then i wrote my name. meanwhile the girls decided to color in my pictures and add things and then would ask me what the words were in english. soon we were teaching each other. then the house father came in and started talking in hebrew and then asked the children to talk to me in whatever english they knew. he also taught them how to ask what my name was. they said "what is name your?" it was adorable but i had to leave early cause the bus came to pick me up early cause everyone else had problems at their placements.
but all in all. i really enjoyed it.
oh and yesterday after ulpan i sat on the grass with laura, yael and our friends from the overseas department; christoph,yonaton,elon,saber,and rob. i decided i need to start being more outgoing and stop being pushed around. it was a nice lunch activity. then juli and i went to get lunch together..delicious shnitzel.
now its the weekend. ill write about that when its over.
now its time to wake laura up, find atag and go to the post office/shuk (maybe) unless lauras sleeping and atags still busy.
