Nope. Sorry, dude. Much as I like Harry, Conan wins. Harry's taken down some big nasties. So has Conan. Harry is seemingly unkillable. So is Conan. Here's where it breaks down:
Harry, despite his resilience, has a bit of a defeatist attitude. More often than not, he marches into situations fully expecting to get killed, and closes his eyes when he thinks he's about to get popped. Conan does not let his attention get diverted by such petty misgivings, and he spits in the face of death.
Harry constantly questions his own judgement. Conan does not.
A lot of Harry's victories are a result of the fact that his enemies all have the same self-defeating quality. They're all incredibly arrogant. They like to pose and gloat and monologue. While it could be argued that Conan is arrogant, he saves all that shit for AFTER he's already hacked his opponent into bloody chunks.
Of course, Superman would kick both their asses, but that's a debate for another time. Nerd!
One other thing in defense of Conan winningmr_rubixMarch 10 2010, 05:31:46 UTC
And from the icon it should be perfectly clear where I would LIKE to vote...
Conan fights wizards FOR A LIVING. Harry fights demons, vampires, dragons, spirits, mobsters, etc. Conan has fought all of those (yes, even the mobsters, if you include some of the underworld scum and pirates he has dealt with in various novels) but time and again he returns to his bread and butter - taking down near omnipotent wizards and sorcerers.
I love Harry. The dude rocks. But in this particular contest I would have to side with the guy who has literally made his name and fortune taking down people who do just what Harry Dresden can do.
