MAC or PC (Alien or Monkfish?)

Okay, I have tons to write. However, for now, I need everyone to help me decide whether my next laptop should be a PC or MAC. Some background, first. Things I do on the computer: use the internet, type papers, fuck around with iTunes (which seems obviously better on a MAC). Things that piss me off and ruin my enjoyment of computers: viruses, ( Read more... )

... no security issues is a huge plus. But, if you're going to get a Mac, you may want ot wait until april 15th. There are rumors that Tiger OS (the next version of OSX) is going to be announced April 1st (harhar) and released ont he 15th. Now, ther eis obviously some doubt about that, what with April Fool's Day, but it'd be worth waiting for.

I love my powerbook. I got the 15" and I haven't regretted it.

Oh, and my iBook is very quiet. My PC laptop had a Celeron processor and those shits are loud. That and my old desktop always made that 'thinking' noise. But I never notice anything from my iBook.

And AIM for Macs is pretty cool because it lets you chat while you have an away message up, in case you want to chat to just one person and want others to leave you alone. :-p

no matter which kind of computer you get, if you don't get good antivirus software and update it every second, you will get viruses and crashes and stuff. also, when computers get old and they have viruses and spyware and other crap, they make grumbly noises, but i think maybe some of the grumbly noises are you and not the computer.

you saw what a piece of crap my computer was by the time i left nj. i have a new one now. i am obsessive about internet security and virus protection. some people think i'm too obsessive, but whatever atleast my computer does not make excessive noise and shut down every second.

I hate to be argumentative (well maybe not, but...) but there are no known virii that can execute on the Mac.

Same with spyware, etc.

That's one of the main advantages to being on a more "geeky" system with less popular market share.
