After deleting all incriminating posts last night I have given my laptop to Allen - with my browser logged into LJ

I'm such a DUMASS!

UPDATE: Although this post was originally by 1pi00te005 aka Allen, I wont delete it considering the intellectual depth of the comments.

Hmmm, just thinkin'....

The term Dumbass is not a natural one - it is basically derived from the german term "Dummkopf", which literally means "stupid head". Which makes sense - after all, you can be stupid in the head, because you think with it.

But of course the Americans needed to make it their own, so they did a translation, arriving first at "dumbhead", which was already wrong, since "dumm" did not originally translate to "dumb" (it does now in Americanese - in English it still means "unable to speak").

But then, to make it more meaningful to Americans, they moved the focus from the head (which the rest of the world thinks with) to the ass...

I think they meant it to be "as dumb as an ass"? (ass = donkey)?
