You know what I wish? I wish SOMEONE would record "Silent Night" one of these days! (Duck & run.)
I just bought "Wintersong" the other day because I wanted to hear McLachlan's version of "Song for a Winter's Evening" (which is one of my favorite G. Lightfoot songs). I confess I was a little disappointed in her oddly robotic version. You can find Lightfoot's on "Gord's Gold" and is a much (IMHO) prettier, folksier version (guitar, violin, sleigh bells). (Never mind that you'll get gobs of other great songs of his. Gobs.)
On the other hand, her "First Noel/Mary Mary" is great! I love the reverb and the drums during the "Noel" parts. I also like her version of "Happy Xmas."
Re: Elton John "Although I think he may have missed the point of U2’s “New Year’s Day.”" He should have included "All I Want is You" since it's about giving someone stuff. I've always wanted a highway with no one on it - even more so if I buy a car soon.
