[for Savannah]

Still cheerful from the news Jack and Logan had shared with him, Joe spent a good chunk of each day grinning like a bit of an idiot. He knew Logan had seemed a little uncomfortable when he'd mentioned that he knew Savannah and he wasn't sure if part of that was that she didn't want anyone to know. That was possible, though, so he'd tried not to say ( Read more... )

Savannah was green. She had a hot cup of coffee that she really wanted to drink but every time she lifted it to her lips it smelled so bad she just couldn't do it. That left her with a piece of toast that she was trying to eat slowly. Very slowly. She didn't even have to wait to swallow because the nibble she had taken was barely there.

"It's going well," she said as cheerfully as she could manage. She was sick and she was so sleepy and her hair was just greasy as could be unless she washed it twice a day, but the books she got said all that was perfectly normal so she felt...

Her smile fell and she covered her mouth and then turned abruptly to the sink, sure she was going to throw up again.

Thank heaven it was a false alarm.

"Jesus," Joe said, sounding surprised. He'd seen all this with Eostre, he remembered holding her hair back in the Council office while she barfed in a garbage can, but he still hadn't been completely prepared for it in Savannah. That was fucking stupid of him.

"You're fucking sick," he said, putting his coffee down and going through the cupboards to find a glass. Filling it with water, he brought it over to her at the sink. "Better than coffee if you're gonna barf."

"Oh, but I really want the coffee, Joe," she said, half laughing and half whining. "It's my one and only vice. You'd think I could at least enjoy one thing, right?"

Still, she took the glass and gave him a grateful smile before to took a small sip to try to keep her tummy from rolling as it was. When she was better she bit her lip, considering the truth that she hadn't said to anyone other than the people who needed to know.

"I'm...not actually sick," she said softly. Savannah kind of figured with the way he'd jumped to action that he wasn't clueless.

Briefly, Joe's head dipped as he nodded, although he wasn't sure if he was getting Logan and Jack into shit by letting her know they'd told him. Still, he wasn't gonna sit here and fucking lie to a pregnant girl. He was done playing shitty games like that.

"I talked to Logan and Jack," he admitted. "I don't think they realized I knew you. They were just excited, wanted to tell me the good news."

And it was good news, although it meant Savannah would probably feel shitty for a little while.
