PAGANICON 2012
Registration is open for Paganicon March 16-18, 2012, we’ve got two special guests lined up, and plans for a Saturday night ball. We’re also going to have an outdoor Pagan Pride celebration at Minnehaha Falls Park , September 10th, 2011 from 10am to 6pm

Christopher Penzack will be the guest of honor at Paganicon 2012. Christopher was the top guest suggestion on our surveys from 2011. If you’ve been in a metaphysical book store, you’ve probably seen his books. He’s currently one of the top Pagan authors. Christopher has penned over fifteen books on spirituality, witchcraft, healing and magick and has won multiple awards, most notably from the Coalition of Visionary Resources.
SJ Tucker will be the special musical guest. Sooj has quite a following in this area, having played concerts here to much acclaim.

Vendor registration for Paganicon 2012 will open after the Sept 10th Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration.

TWIN CITIES PAGAN PRIDE
Speaking of the Sept 10th Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration, This year we’re moving to a one day celebration, September 10th, 2011 from 10am to 6pm, at Minnehaha Falls Park. We’re very excited to be in Minnehaha Falls Park . It’s a beautiful location with a stage for entertainment.
There’s lots of great entertainment lined up; Celia, Murphey's Midnight Rounders, Beth Kinderman, Folk Magic, Future Lisa, and Aillinn the Bard. There will also be vendors, workshops, and fun for the whole family. If you have a programming or ritual proposal, please submit it to programming@tcpaganpride.org.

Now that we've made it into the new year, it's time to focus on the major upcoming events of 2012. One of the true high-points of the year will undoubtedly be Paganicon, March 16-18.
There are a few deadlines you might want to work into your plans
January 14th is the deadline for programming proposals. If you are interested in presenting a workshop, ritual, or other event at Paganicon, please visit http://tcpaganpride.org/paganicon/programming. You'll find forms for ideas and proposals. Please e-mail programming@tcpaganpride.org with any questions. Presenters must be registered attendees.
February 23rd is the deadline for early registration. Before February 23rd, you can register for $65 at http://paganicon.eventbrite.com/. After that, registration is $80 at the door, and there are likely to be special perks and treats for people who pre-register.

We could go on and on about how great Paganicon will be this year with honored guests Christopher Penczak and S.J. Tucker, a better location in the hotel, as well as the Paganicon Ball on Saturday night. However, the best advertisement for this year's Paganicon is last year's Paganicon. Last year at this time, we were telling people about the dream of what Paganicon could be, then we had the first Paganicon and it was a dream come true. This year is all about making it even better.
Last year the con was a bit spread out. This year we're bringing everything together on one level, increasing ease of access for attendees, and allowing convenient areas for people to hang out and chat.
Last year we had a Saturday night concert. This year we're having a Saturday night Ball with special musical guest S.J. Tucker, as well as Murphy’s Midnight Rounders and DJ Silverwolf. Paganicon registrants can attend for no additional charge. This particular event is also open to non-registrants for only $15.

For many years the dream was simply to have a Pagan conference in the Twin Cities, and now that dream is an established reality.

PAGANICON BALL

This year’s theme for the March 17th ball will be The All Snakes’ Ball. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and masquerade in their most fabulous attire. Before the Ball, Harmony Tribe (organizers of the Sacred Harvest Festival) will lead a snake themed ritual. The ball will be kicked off with a processional pageant facilitated by visionary artist Paul Rucker.

WHY PAGANICON?
The Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration was becoming more like a con, and less like Pagan Pride. Pagan Pride celebrations are generally one day events out in a place with plentiful walking traffic, allowing them to serve as outreach to the rest of the community, as well as a place where Pagans can openly celebrate. By contrast, our celebration was a two day event in a reserved building with multiple programming tracks. The most reasonable solution was to split the two and create the programming intensive Paganicon, and then have a separate Pagan Pride celebration.
Twin Cities Pagan Pride is now a one day event near one of Minneapolis’s most sacred sites, and Paganicon is a conference in a wonderful Pagan community.
The Minnesota Twin Cities area has such a substantial Pagan community that it has become known as Paganistan. It was from the term Paganistan that the name Paganicon emerged.

PAGANICON OVERVIEW
It is going to be a wonderful gathering. Let's explore what the weekend will be like in more detail.
This will be a programming intensive Conference. Our guest of honor, Christopher Penczak, will be presenting four workshops. Christopher has over a quarter million books in print, covering topics such as spirituality, witchcraft, healing, and magick. Christopher has won multiple awards, most notably from the Coalition of Visionary Resources.
The programming gets going at 7pm Friday night, and doesn't end until Sunday at 4:30 pm. Check it out at http://paganicon2012.sched.org/ or http://paganicon2012.sched.org/mobile/ and you'll see all the great programming we have in store for you. There’s programming options from many of the most notable Pagans in the community.
Friday, after you stop at the welcome table and get your badge, you’ll have a bit of time to reconnect with old friends before the opening ceremony at 7pm. After the opening ceremony, the first workshops of the conference begin at 8pm. Later we’ll have comedy led by Margret Blaylock and music by Murphey's Midnight Rounders.
What you do after each day's programming is done will hopefully continue to enhance your Paganicon experience. Please obey all relevant laws and hotel rules.
Saturday will be filled with workshops, rituals, crafts, discussions, panels, presentations, and entertainment, from 9am to 5:30pm. The vendor room will also be open from 9am to 5:30pm
In between all that, you'll run into old friends, hopefully meet some new friends, get to know people better, and establish bonds which will last for years.
At 6:30pm, Harmony Tribe will present a snake themed ritual to lead into the Paganicon All Snakes’ Ball at 7pm.
The All Snakes’ Ball will be open to all Paganicon registrants. Those not registered for Paganicon can attend for only $15. This is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be a cash bar. So instead of going out, and dealing with drunks crashing their cars, come to the All Snakes’ Ball and crash at the hotel.
At the ball, you will experience “A Revel Under the Faerie Hills”. The snakes of Ireland didn't leave -- they just went underground ... here in the New Land, the powers of the Earth are returning. Come dance with the Fae and revel with the Serpents, at a masquerade in the Faerie Court. As guests under the Hills, you are welcome! Last year, the Paganicon chair went into labor at Paganicon and gave birth to a wonderful child now known as the Paganicon baby. Sunday at 1pm, there will be a Wiccaning for a child whose birthday celebration will no doubt grow larger every year for many years to come.

Pagan Conference Celebrates Second Year in Twin Cities
A diverse nature-based spiritual community expected to attend
February 15, 2012-Minneapolis, MN
On March 16 through March 18, a diverse regional community of non-Christian believers and spiritual leaders-including many adherents to the Wiccan faith, Druidry, and other Pagan- or Nature-based religious practices-will gather at the second annual Paganicon taking place at the Doubletree Hotel in St. Louis Park. The conference offers programming that directly addresses key spiritual, social, and political issues affecting non-Christian community, a keynote address by internationally-known author and spiritual leader Christopher Penczak, and even an evening ball subtitled A Revel Under the Faerie Hills.
Although each spiritual branch of Paganism share commonalities, contemporary Pagan religious movements are widely diverse, and unlike Christianity or other organized religions, there are no set of beliefs, practices or religious texts shared by all of them. Current U.S. statistical date is scarce, but formal studies published by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and the Pentagon, estimate that there are around 300,000 practicing Pagans nationwide, and a minimum of 2,000 Pagans who are on active duty in our military.
The idea for the conference grew out of the annual Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration, one of the oldest Pagan Pride celebrations in the nation. The Twin Cities has the second largest Pagan community in the nation, the oldest Pagan Community center, five Pagan-owned metaphysical shops, and a weekly newsletter devoted exclusively to Pagan events.
Due to increased interest in organizing a formal conference, while maintaining the format of the original pride festival, Paganicon was formed. Coordinator Wendy Seidl explains, “The Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration was becoming more like a conference, and less like a celebration. By contrast, it was a two-day event in a building with multiple programming tracks. The solution: split the two and create the programming-intensive Paganicon, and then have a separate Pagan Pride celebration in its traditional format.”
One of the first conferences of this kind occurred between 1971 and 1976, when well-known publisher Carl Llewellyn Weschcke (current Chair of Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.) aided in organizing Gnosticon, an alternative spirituality conference that is often credited as the stimulus for the substantial Pagan influx to the Twin Cities. Participant Elysia Gallo, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. comments, “Llewellyn was very excited to hear that there would finally be a large Pagan conference right here in our own backyard once more.” Although Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd., continues to publish a broad spectrum of titles on New Age topics, like the 110-year-old astrology classic, The Llewellyn Moon Sign Book, the publishing house has had significant success over the past decade with books on Pagan and related topics. The publisher is a business sponsor to this event.
The guests of honor for this year’s Paganicon are author Christopher Penczak and musician S. J. Tucker. Christopher Penczak is a considered a leading spiritual teacher in the movement, and his numerous books on the subject matter have been featured in newsprint and magazines across the country. Penczak has over a quarter million books in print. S. J. Tucker, hailing from Arkansas, is one of the top Pagan recording artists currently touring, and her music, inspired by alternative folk rock, has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Ani DiFranco.
An addition to this year’s conference is a masquerade ball on Saturday evening, entitled The All Snakes' Day Dance: A Revel Under the Faerie Hills, which references St. Patrick banishing the snakes from Ireland. It is also commonly used as a euphemism for his driving out native Pagan practices and beliefs and supplanting them with Christianity. Local musical folk talent Murphey’s Midnight Rounders and “Skinny White Chick” SJ Tucker are slated to perform.
Attendance is expected to increase this year, from 170 to 350 participants, so coordinators encourage those interested to register online as early as possible. One participant of last year’s conference, Anne Marie Forester, remarked, “I can't tell you how impressed I am by this weekend. My only complaint is that it was an abundance of riches and I couldn't get to it all.”

Hello, everyone!
Paganicon starts in just two days.
A couple of quick tips to help everything go as smoothly as possible for you this year.
Paganicon is being held at the Doubletree Hotel Park Place (1500 Park Place Blvd) in St Louis Park, which is near the intersection of I-394 and SR 100.
The check-in/registration desk for Paganicon will be upstairs on the second floor, just outside of the second floor convention area. If you plan to get a room and stay overnight, you will need to separately check in to your hotel room at the hotel's registration desk on the first floor.
Check-in for Paganicon begins Friday at 4:00pm and will continue until around 10:00pm. The registration desk will also be staffed from 8:30am until 11:30am on Saturday . If you arrive and need to check in and get your badge outside of those times, go to the Paganicon Hospitality Suite in room 226.
You MUST have your badge in order to get into any of the programming or entertainment events at Paganicon, so please make sure you have it with you at all times. A badge is not required to enter the Vendor Room.
If you have registered for the Paganicon Ball ONLY, check in for the Ball will be in the 2nd floor convention hallway starting at 6:30pm on Saturday and will continue until around 9:00pm. We will also be selling tickets at the door for $15.
To check-in for either Paganicon or the Ball, you do not need to bring any paper tickets or email print outs. Just bring your ID to the registration desk and give us your name.
Also new this year:
Early Bird registration for next year will be available at a special Con rate of $45. A pre-registration form will be included in the packet you receive at check-in. Fill it out and turn it in with your check or money order before the end of the Con to get this special rate. Once the Con ends, pre-registration will be at the regular Early Bird rate of $50 through September 10th.
You can also pre-order your very own Paganicon T-shirt as part of your registration for Paganicon 2013. A T-shirt will be $15 ($20 for sizes above 2XL). We will have samples of what the T-shirts will look like available at Paganicon this year. There will be some extra T-shirts available fo r sale at Paganicon 2013 if you do not pre-order, but pre-ordering will guarantee that you will get one in the size that you want.

On the verge of this year’s Paganicon, thoughts drift back to the last Paganicon. It was a fabulous event, with so many positive comments it’s enough to make a person blush. A quick overview of comments from attendees: stellar programming with great variety, astounding guest of honor, the food events were scrumptious, the music was fabulous, everything just flowed with no major problems, the hotel was very accommodating. It ran so well that it did not seem like a first year event. The programming was top notch. The attendance was great. It was a fabulously successful event.

Last year at this time, we were telling people about the dream of what Paganicon could be, then we had the first Paganicon and it was a dream come true. This year is all about making it even better.
Last year the con was a bit spread out. This year we're bringing everything together on one level, increasing ease of access for attendees, and allowing convenient areas for people to hang out and chat.
Last year we had a Saturday night concert. This year we're having a Saturday night Ball with special musical guest S.J. Tucker, as well as Murphy’s Midnight Rounders and DJ Silverwolf. Paganicon registrants can attend for no additional charge. This particular event is also open to non-registrants for only $15.

PAGANICON BALL
We’re particularly excited about the Saturday night Paganicon Ball. Paganicon registrants can attend for no additional charge. This particular event is also open to non-registrants for only $15. Musical entertainment at the ball will be S.J. Tucker, Murphy’s Midnight Rounders and DJ Silverwolf.
This year’s theme for the March 17th ball will be The All Snakes’ Ball. Guests are encouraged to come in costume and masquerade in their most fabulous attire. Before the Ball, Harmony Tribe (organizers of the Sacred Harvest Festival) will lead a snake themed ritual. The ball will be kicked off with a processional pageant facilitated by visionary artist Paul Rucker.

WHY PAGANICON?
The Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration was becoming more like a con, and less like Pagan Pride. Pagan Pride celebrations are generally one day events out in a place with plentiful walking traffic, allowing them to serve as outreach to the rest of the community, as well as a place where Pagans can openly celebrate. By contrast, our celebration was a two day event in a reserved building with multiple programming tracks. The most reasonable solution was to split the two and create the programming intensive Paganicon, and then have a separate Pagan Pride celebration.
Twin Cities Pagan Pride is now a one day event near one of Minneapolis’s most sacred sites, and Paganicon is a conference in a wonderful Pagan community.
The Minnesota Twin Cities area has such a substantial Pagan community that it has become known as Paganistan. It was from the term Paganistan that the name Paganicon emerged.

PAGANICON OVERVIEW
It is going to be a wonderful gathering. Let's explore what the weekend will be like in more detail.
This will be a programming intensive Conference. Our guest of honor, Christopher Penczak, will be presenting four workshops. Christopher has over a quarter million books in print, covering topics such as spirituality, witchcraft, healing, and magick. Christopher has won multiple awards, most notably from the Coalition of Visionary Resources.
The programming gets going at 7pm Friday night, and doesn't end until Sunday at 4:30 pm. Check it out at http://paganicon2012.sched.org/ or http://paganicon2012.sched.org/mobile/ and you'll see all the great programming we have in store for you. There’s programming options from many of the most notable Pagans in the community.
Friday, after you stop at the welcome table and get your badge, you’ll have a bit of time to reconnect with old friends before the opening ceremony at 7pm. After the opening ceremony, the first workshops of the conference begin at 8pm. Later we’ll have comedy led by Margret Blaylock and music by Murphey's Midnight Rounders.
What you do after each day's programming is done will hopefully continue to enhance your Paganicon experience. Please obey all relevant laws and hotel rules.
Saturday will be filled with workshops, rituals, crafts, discussions, panels, presentations, and entertainment, from 9am to 5:30pm. The vendor room will also be open from 9am to 5:30pm
In between all that, you'll run into old friends, hopefully meet some new friends, get to know people better, and establish bonds which will last for years.
At 6:30pm, Harmony Tribe will present a snake themed ritual to lead into the Paganicon All Snakes’ Ball at 7pm.
The All Snakes’ Ball will be open to all Paganicon registrants. Those not registered for Paganicon can attend for only $15. This is a great way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. There will be a cash bar. So instead of going out, and dealing with drunks crashing their cars, come to the All Snakes’ Ball and crash at the hotel.
At the ball, you will experience “A Revel Under the Faerie Hills”. The snakes of Ireland didn't leave -- they just went underground ... here in the New Land, the powers of the Earth are returning. Come dance with the Fae and revel with the Serpents, at a masquerade in the Faerie Court. As guests under the Hills, you are welcome! Come dress in high magical style -- in your slinkiest snakeskin or best fae finery. Prizes will be bestowed onto the most sublime magical personas (i.e. best costumes) ! We encourage: Masques, body paint, jewelry, wings, scales, glitter, silks, satins, armor and furbelows-- all welcome and lustily encouraged!

Last year, the Paganicon chair went into labor at Paganicon and gave birth to a wonderful child now known as the Paganicon baby. Sunday at 1pm, there will be a Wiccaning for a child whose birthday celebration will no doubt grow larger every year for many years to come.

Pagan Conference Celebrates Second Year in Twin Cities
A diverse nature-based spiritual community expected to attend
February 15, 2012-Minneapolis, MN
On March 16 through March 18, a diverse regional community of non-Christian believers and spiritual leaders-including many adherents to the Wiccan faith, Druidry, and other Pagan- or Nature-based religious practices-will gather at the second annual Paganicon taking place at the Doubletree Hotel in St. Louis Park. The conference offers programming that directly addresses key spiritual, social, and political issues affecting non-Christian community, a keynote address by internationally-known author and spiritual leader Christopher Penczak, and even an evening ball subtitled A Revel Under the Faerie Hills.
Although each spiritual branch of Paganism share commonalities, contemporary Pagan religious movements are widely diverse, and unlike Christianity or other organized religions, there are no set of beliefs, practices or religious texts shared by all of them. Current U.S. statistical date is scarce, but formal studies published by the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and the Pentagon, estimate that there are around 300,000 practicing Pagans nationwide, and a minimum of 2,000 Pagans who are on active duty in our military.
The idea for the conference grew out of the annual Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration, one of the oldest Pagan Pride celebrations in the nation. The Twin Cities has the second largest Pagan community in the nation, the oldest Pagan Community center, five Pagan-owned metaphysical shops, and a weekly newsletter devoted exclusively to Pagan events.
Due to increased interest in organizing a formal conference, while maintaining the format of the original pride festival, Paganicon was formed. Coordinator Wendy Seidl explains, “The Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration was becoming more like a conference, and less like a celebration. By contrast, it was a two-day event in a building with multiple programming tracks. The solution: split the two and create the programming-intensive Paganicon, and then have a separate Pagan Pride celebration in its traditional format.”
One of the first conferences of this kind occurred between 1971 and 1976, when well-known publisher Carl Llewellyn Weschcke (current Chair of Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd.) aided in organizing Gnosticon, an alternative spirituality conference that is often credited as the stimulus for the substantial Pagan influx to the Twin Cities. Participant Elysia Gallo, Senior Acquisitions Editor for Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd. comments, “Llewellyn was very excited to hear that there would finally be a large Pagan conference right here in our own backyard once more.” Although Llewellyn Worldwide, Ltd., continues to publish a broad spectrum of titles on New Age topics, like the 110-year-old astrology classic, The Llewellyn Moon Sign Book, the publishing house has had significant success over the past decade with books on Pagan and related topics. The publisher is a business sponsor to this event.
The guests of honor for this year’s Paganicon are author Christopher Penczak and musician S. J. Tucker. Christopher Penczak is a considered a leading spiritual teacher in the movement, and his numerous books on the subject matter have been featured in newsprint and magazines across the country. Penczak has over a quarter million books in print. S. J. Tucker, hailing from Arkansas, is one of the top Pagan recording artists currently touring, and her music, inspired by alternative folk rock, has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Jeff Buckley, and Ani DiFranco.
An addition to this year’s conference is a masquerade ball on Saturday evening, entitled The All Snakes' Day Dance: A Revel Under the Faerie Hills, which references St. Patrick banishing the snakes from Ireland. It is also commonly used as a euphemism for his driving out native Pagan practices and beliefs and supplanting them with Christianity. Local musical folk talent Murphey’s Midnight Rounders and “Skinny White Chick” SJ Tucker are slated to perform.
Attendance is expected to increase this year, from 170 to 350 participants, so coordinators encourage those interested to register online as early as possible. One participant of last year’s conference, Anne Marie Forester, remarked, “I can't tell you how impressed I am by this weekend. My only complaint is that it was an abundance of riches and I couldn't get to it all.”

The idea for the conference grew out of the annual Twin Cities Pagan Pride celebration, one of the oldest Pagan Pride celebrations in the nation. The Twin Cities has the second largest Pagan community in the nation, the oldest Pagan Community center, five Pagan-owned metaphysical shops, a weekly newsletter devoted exclusively to Pagan events, multiple festivals, and a conference. Some of you might remember that the Twin Cities also hosted one of the first conferences of this type; Gnosticon. We have great cause for pride in the Twin Cities Pagan community.
Many think of the Midwest as being about five years behind the coasts. That isn’t the case with the local Pagan community. Many of the innovations which are just the way we do things, are the things which eventually show up on the coasts that they see as cutting edge. Many of the topics discussed at last year’s Paganicon were so new and innovative that they are not yet in books. In attendance, there were many major players who are shaping the future of Paganism. One person commented that Paganicon was almost like a Pagan leadership conference.

Hello, everyone!
Paganicon starts in just two days.
A couple of quick tips to help everything go as smoothly as possible for you this year.
Paganicon is being held at the Doubletree Hotel Park Place (1500 Park Place Blvd) in St Louis Park, which is near the intersection of I-394 and SR 100.
The check-in/registration desk for Paganicon will be upstairs on the second floor, just outside of the second floor convention area. If you plan to get a room and stay overnight, you will need to separately check in to your hotel room at the hotel's registration desk on the first floor.
Check-in for Paganicon begins Friday at 4:00pm and will continue until around 10:00pm. The registration desk will also be staffed from 8:30am until 11:30am on Saturday . If you arrive and need to check in and get your badge outside of those times, go to the Paganicon Hospitality Suite in room 226.
You MUST have your badge in order to get into any of the programming or entertainment events at Paganicon, so please make sure you have it with you at all times. A badge is not required to enter the Vendor Room.
If you have registered for the Paganicon Ball ONLY, check in for the Ball will be in the 2nd floor convention hallway starting at 6:30pm on Saturday and will continue until around 9:00pm. We will also be selling tickets at the door for $15.
To check-in for either Paganicon or the Ball, you do not need to bring any paper tickets or email print outs. Just bring your ID to the registration desk and give us your name.
Also new this year:
Early Bird registration for next year will be available at a special Con rate of $45. A pre-registration form will be included in the packet you receive at check-in. Fill it out and turn it in with your check or money order before the end of the Con to get this special rate. Once the Con ends, pre-registration will be at the regular Early Bird rate of $50 through September 10th.
You can also pre-order your very own Paganicon T-shirt as part of your registration for Paganicon 2013. A T-shirt will be $15 ($20 for sizes above 2XL). We will have samples of what the T-shirts will look like available at Paganicon this year. There will be some extra T-shirts available fo r sale at Paganicon 2013 if you do not pre-order, but pre-ordering will guarantee that you will get one in the size that you want.
Finally, reduce your carbon footprint and plastic waste with a stainless steel Paganicon water bottle! We will have a limited number of these bottles with the Paganicon logo available for sale at the registration desk for $10 each. First come, first serve. PLEASE NOTE: if you sign up in advance to volunteer for a minimum of 4 hours at Paganicon, you will receive one of these awesome water bottles FOR FREE!!! How will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Will you be drinking a toast to a Christian saint, or will you be reveling under the faerie hills at the Paganicon Ball All Snakes' Day Dance. Even if you’re not attending Paganicon, you can still attend the ball Saturday night at 7pm for only $15.

On the verge of this year’s Paganicon, thoughts drift back to the last Paganicon. It was a fabulous event, with so many positive comments it’s enough to make a person blush. A quick overview of comments from attendees: stellar programming with great variety, astounding guest of honor, the food events were scrumptious, the music was fabulous, everything just flowed with no major problems, the hotel was very accommodating. It ran so well that it did not seem like a first year event. The programming was top notch. The attendance was great. It was a fabulously successful event.

Last year led to some great connections. Several groups got national press due to the connections established at the first Paganicon. Many people made new friends. Many people learned new ways to advance their personal practice. This year, we hope to establish this as a tradition.

Another way in which this year is a direct continuation of last year, the president of the organization’s water broke on the last day of the event last year. This year, we will celebrate the Wiccaning of Kiera, the Paganicon baby, on the last day of the event.
