ok... your little tangent about birth and childhood is completely irrelavent to your point... cause as you put it earlier: "Sure once you're old enough, you are allowed to make your own choices..." during childhood, you arent old enough to make those decisions...
I think he means that because all of your adult decisions are influenced by the way you were brought up as a child, you really aren't making THOSE decisions for yourself either. It was all predetermined.
I love it when we act obtuse and over-simplify things! LOL, we all know that there are lots of factors at play and that Charlie was only illustrating that we don't necessarily have COMPLETE control over our lives and "decisions," . . . . oh man, I just had a short-circuit right in the middle of that thought. I don't think this is one of those nights where we can have drunken philosophical discussions, Mel ;-) For one thing, I'm not drunk, and also, the bronchitis has rendered me brain-dead and now I have to sleep. I sorta miss acting goofy and unacceptable with ya while others are trying to remain passed out, though. It has been awhile.
thanks for noticing the concept I was trying to get across. I never finished the whole thing, but I might try to in the next few days(I wrote this about 2 1/2 weeks ago). So we'll see if I ever get around to it.

Either way, I think the birth/childhood tangent was relevant to his point, regardless of differing opinions regarding free will vs. fate, etc.
I'm too sleepy to make any sense beyond that. I don't think I know you, but it was nice chatting via LJ comments with you. ;-) G'night!
P.S. I like your user name . . . very clever!
