On tumblr I'm keeping track of all the episodes I watch in a year. Today I made it to 500 and now I have to squee about the show that got me there. Now I know why Dark Shadows is a cult classic.
It is so good! I'm totally into it. I want gifs and reaction posts and random Victoria/Willie shipping! (I'm fully behind Barnabas/Victoria, which I know is where the show goes, but she and Willie have had great scenes together and they've got a unique connection on the show because they're both servants moving in the same circles as their employers. If this show was coming out now they'd totally have fans.)
Be careful you're getting the right version. There were two remake series, I believe, along with a couple TV movies. (I watched part of a 1980s remake when it marathoned a few years ago and it wasn't anywhere as good as the original is.) The original came out in the 1960s (it's probably the only version in black and white, so that might help). I'd start watching at episode 210 if I were you. It's the first on netflix and the first one Barnabas (Johnny Depp's character in the movie) appears in and since it's a soap it wasn't hard to figure out what was happening.
lol old soap operas are fun. XD You can watch entire seasons and then miss a couple epissodes and you're like waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait. I don't understand! lmao. Though what I like about TVD is that they move so fast, you kind of have have to be really caught up with it. I don't really watch it anymore though. :( I miss Caroline. lol. Anyway, wasn't there a 90's show that was a remake of it? I was contemplating watching that one because it was the same era as Buffy so it couldn't be *that* bad... but then I suppose I'm bias. lmao.
One great thing about Dark Shadows is that I've watched 40 episodes and no one's died yet. I love TVD but really, how many people can die in one town such a short amount of time before it gets quarantined to save the rest of us?
Anyway, I have no idea about a nineties remake, but considering how much I'm loving the original, I'd watch any version.
