Recent Movie Nights, part 2

Jackie Chan’s Police Story.

I’ve seen it before. It was on Timu’s personal list. Goes without saying, this is a quintessential contemporary Hong Kong action film and kung fu film. Enjoyed seeing it again.

The 36th Chamber. I watch this movie at least once every 1.5 years. I was excited to show Timu. It makes me laugh every time. I’m really into grasshopper-learns films though.

Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight. Neither of us have seen this film. I liked this film better than Inglorious Basterds and I think a little more than Django. Tarantino’s over the top masturbatory directorial craft worked wonders for this film in part because of the uncomfortable claustrophobia and mystery element. End scene was just wow.

David Cronenberg’s Eastern Promises. Timu showed me this. Viggo Mortensen hands down was the right pick for this movie. Absolutely loved the bath house fight scene. Coulda dumped Naomi Watts, but what can you do.

Guy Ritchie’s Snatch. Timu and I never saw this but it was on Timu’s list. I found it underwhelming with very uninteresting moves. Brad Pitt as a gypsy was pretty neat.

Jean-Claude Van Damme in JCVD. Had this really lame fourth wall breaking monologue. Did Tiger show this to me?
