How come it's called the Human ImmunoDeficiency Virus (HIV)
but it's called Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome (AIDS)

ie, why does immunodeficiency in HIV ony equal I in the acronym, but in AIDS it's ID?!?

Thats a good question and yet another sign of the social stratification we have. On the ConservaPedia (A Wikipedia site run by right wing fundamentalists), AIDS and HIV are entirely the fault of gays. And if you get it, its your fault unless you are an "innocent child." I guess they never heard of rape or incest or the fact that many STIs happen because of infidelity inside marriage.

Fun fact! Shouldn't it be Developed or Evolved ImmunoDeficiency Virus (EIV?)

is that rather than AIDS or HIV? And yeah... if you watch "And the Band Played On", conservatives weren't really the only ones blaming gay people in the beginning of the pandemic.

In terms of the 2 other possible names... It's Human IV because there's one in monkeys called Simian IV... hence distinguishing...

probably just to make it sound like a word.

yeah, I get that for AIDS, but I think it'd be cool if it were called the HID virus (like short for hidden) because there tends to be an average of 8 years of "latency" before your immune system is deficient, and it's sooo good at remaining "hidden" from the immune system... but I'm just procrastinating with stupidity while studying.
