Wallace Grant "Wally" Eaton, 79, of Springdale, died Saturday (March 20, 2004) at The Willows of Presbyterian SeniorCare, Oakmont.



Born June 5, 1924, in Pine Run, he lived in the Valley all of his life.

He was a 1943 graduate of Springdale High School.

A veteran, he served in World War II with the Marines 1st Division in the Pacific Theatre at the first landing at Guadalcanal. He received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Eaton was a craneman at PPG, East Deer Works, for 38 years before retiring.

He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Springdale High School Alumni Association and a senior member of the Springdale Sportsmen's Association, all in Springdale, and a member of the Vandergrift Golf Club.

He enjoyed trout fishing and deer hunting at his cottage, gardening, woodworking, golf, feeding animals and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Henrietta Leskovic Eaton; and four sons, Robert T. (Cheryl) Eaton of West Deer, Richard J. Eaton of Springdale Township, Rand A. (Jennifer) Eaton of Springdale and Roger A. (Dyan) Eaton of Lower Burrell.

He also is survived by four grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie (Craig) Codeluppi and Jeffrey (Connie), Brooke and Baylee Eaton; a great-grandson, Nathan Codeluppi; eight nephews; a niece; and a brother-in-law, Thomas R. (Christina) Leskovic.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry T. and Elva Anthony Eaton; two brothers, Norman and Albert Eaton; and a sister, Theda Phillips.

He also was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, John H. and Mary Starr Leskovic; a brother-in-law, George Phillips; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Eaton and Rose Gladowski.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in SPRINGDALE at CHARLES B. JARVIE FUNERAL HOME INC., 801 Pittsburgh Street, where a blessing service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. George Saladna will officiate. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Springdale Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 99, Springdale, PA 15144.
