Rabbi Shmuley Boteach on love in America.

I've asked women in female audiences around the world, it's so funny to see this - no matter where you are, be it a non-Jewish audience in the Netherlands two months ago, to Jewish audiences in New York, "who here needs a man?" This would almost be considered a worthwhile discussion if it were not for the painfully obvious:
The Rabbi did not ask the audience "who here needs love?" He said "who here needs a man?" If he had actually been inquiring about love, I'd be interested in the rest of the article. But his question implies that women need men to experience love, and equates needing a man with needing love. Which, in short, is absolute bullshit. I'd like to think that anyone who can read would have been able to see that for themselves. Clearly, that's not the case. How unfortunate that we are still perpetuating the idea that women need men to be happy.

Kim, I think he just didn't want to sound pedantic and tedious by saying "who here needs a man or woman?" Also, even though we may disagree with certain aspects of something someone says, doesn't mean they have nothing to offer us.
