I am out right now and have read this on my husband's iPhone from start to end.

This is the best fic I have read this whole season of ficgames. I need to give you a better comment; please hang on till I get home, where I can vote and tell you exactly how much I love you and your beautiful mind. Thank you for this masterpiece.

Firstly, wow. I'd been waiting for a fic to astound me so I never gave anyone anything above an 8 or a 9, though those were really good, but this. This was what I'd been waiting for, since posting started. Wow.

I love the command you have over the language, the way you play with your words to let them convey meaning. I can quote chunks of text right back at you, like the nebulous hours of the morning or the way you made me feel Nino's nervousness when you were describing the jellyfish in his stomach; but what struck me the hardest was that bit from Niji, when Nino and Ohno's shadows overlapped. You freaking genius. This is seriously the best thing I've read since a long time ago. You really made my day.

Another thing I would like to say is the way the story unfolded, and the recurring theme of the beginning and the end of the beginning and that time line you had spun, moving parallel with the development of the story and unknown to the characters. Brilliant.

I also loved every bit of characterisation. Every single bit. I am a huge ( ... )

Last comment I promise. I need to say, I adored that part about Katsumi and how Nino felt it was like he was having a father around when Katsumi did that thumb thing on his neck. I love it when authors remember that the boys' social life is largely comprised of people who are not in Arashi. For Nino, I am really appreciative of people who remember how close he is to Katsumi.

I like how you channel Nino. It's like you know him in real life or something. ♥

LOL. If I knew him in real life, I'm not sure I'd be able to write fic about him anymore... But thanks. ;D

Katsumi is awesome, and so is his relationship with Nino. ♥ There needs to be more of him!

I'll admit it: I saved this one for last. Nino/Masami? Ohmiya? HELL YES. And this was so lovely. It was just gorgeous. I loved Nino's regret and his reasons. I loved how Ohno was just THERE. I love how so many of his actions could have been just those of a true friend as well as those of a lover. I love how you worked in the rest of Arashi and Nino's hanging out with older actors and Ohno's love of clubbing (and fish) and how busy they are all the time ( ... )

Thank you. :)

That balance with Ohno that you mention - true friend versus lover - that, in particular, was really friggin' difficult. Shifting the relationship to favor romance instead of just Ohno being supportive had me tearing out my hair. For some reason it was just really hard to show his intentions with all the levels of emotion/stuff going on. I'm still not sure I really did a good job. u_u

The Masami/Nino plot was what I really wanted to focus on, originally, but... lol. Well. Oh, this fic. It made me angst.

But whatever I might think about this fic, I'm really glad that you like it, because that means it's done its job. :) Thanks for the wonderful comment.

This is a really amazing exploration of character and motivation and relationships in general. Everything felt believable, understandable... the flaws of the people involved, Nino in particular, and all the uncertainty.

I really enjoyed this and I love the hopeful ending. ♥

Thanks babe. :D Showing flaws was one of the things I wanted to do with this fic, so I'm glad it came across. It might also have been what made it really difficult for me to write... it was hard for me to resolve that flaw and wrap it up in a way that was positive but also realistic and true to what came before. So I'm glad it worked for you. :)

I am not hugely into Arashi, but I know about the Nino/Masami and the Ohmiya SK thing....and I can honestly say as a non-Arashi follower, this fic might actually convert me. The connection and emotional honesty and support not only between Ohno and Nino, but also the other members was lovely. The way you used the Ohmiya SK to develop their own RL relationship was beautiful..and I loved the tone, writing style...basically everything. I also appreciated the way Masami was not devalued....and that admission at the end was beautiful - because I had been wondering.

I think my fave bit of the fic was the scene at the club - where Ohno stops him. Yes he was jealous and wanted it to be him - but the first motivating factor was that Nino would hate himself in the morning. And then Ohno was strong and honest enough to admit that he also wanted it to be him. Gorgeous work, well done.

I'm really glad that you enjoyed it even not being a fan of Arashi. That's a wonderful, wonderful compliment. :)

Masami gets a lot of flack in fandom... I don't like her much myself, but I think she deserves to be respected nonetheless. It's not about how I feel about her, anyway, it's about how Nino feels about her, so. I wanted to try to write a fic that showed her in that light, and tried to give her a bit of a voice.

Thanks. :)
