Mapplethorpe’s pictures are generally really hard for me to swallow. I’m not afraid of homosexuality, or think it’s disgusting. I really don’t care who’s gay and what they do. It’s more of the fact that I don’t like to see thing’s in peoples assholes and them giving me this look like ‘Yeah, I just stuck that whip in my ass. I’m gay, so look at

what is stupid is that there are almost definetly people out there who think that he is an artistic genius because of this and that he is so visionary and inovative and thats its just so beautiful. but really, it isnt. and those people are probably really annoying.

well, i actually like some of his other work. it's just that i was to respond in my paper to this particular piece, which i think he just did to see how far he could go. its gross looking.

its gross in general. I havent seen other work, if its all like that, I dont think I would be the biggest fan, but Im guessing its not. Im so glad im not taking any art history this semester and having to respond at stuff I hate, although Id much rather do that than analyzing peoples critical incidents and studying for oceanography tests. BLEH.

its not art history, its actually a lecture class on questioning what art is..and other annoying things like that. we have to write a paper a week on responding to things like , gay jasper johns and rauschenberg and exhibits at the ica. but yeah, sounds better than analyzing peoples critical incidents....whatever those are. haha
