Actually, because I think it's unfair that people are always remembered for the things which turn out not to be true, I should add that Kepler was one of the best mathematicians in Europe in his time. And he was right about some fairly major things, like the Earth orbiting the sun, not vice-versa, and the three laws he observed to govern their motion.

Kepler even has a revolution in scientific thought named after him.

I can't help thinking he was a bit overly optimistic about his theory given the evidence though.
