just a little poll.

I was going through some old posts at mintyapple to see if there were any new comments on my layouts about issues/problems with them and i noticed that almost every other comment was "saving to mems!" which made me think, how many layouts users have saved to mems, and if they ever go back and check their mems to use one of their saved layouts, or if they ( Read more... )

I personally have a ton saved, and I often look through my memories if I'm wanting to change my layout. The only time I go somewhere else besides my mems is if I'm wanting a very specific type of layout, and can't find one in my memories. But I've saved every layout I've ever liked.

As to your second question, I only change my layout about once a month, if that. But I have my own graphics community and I run several icon challenge communities, so I change the layouts for those too, and about every 2 months once I find one I really like. XD

That makes a lot of sense. I use my mems all the time, but I change my layout so infrequently that there's not much of a point to save all these layouts to mems, and then never remember that I saved them.

Yeah, back before I started making graphics and created all these communities, I never looked at my mems. Now I'm thankful that I was smart enough to save all these layouts over the years. :P
My journal is really the only layout that I don't change on a regular basis just because I don't look at it as often as the communities, so I kind of forget about it.

I agree with the above comment almost completely!

I don't change my layout often lately because I'm very picky. Sometimes I want a sidebar layout, other times they make me feel claustrophobic, etc. I'm starting to link it to the seasons. In the winter, usually I don't mind a double-sidebar layout, other times, I want a specific alignment, style, shape, etc, and I look for something very specific. I go to my mems first when I'm looking to change my layout, because my memmed layouts are the ones I liked enough to +mem.

Then I usually go by layout creator/community to see if they have any new stuff I missed.

I also go by phases, so sometimes I'll change my layout and a week later, I change it just to see what the new would look like. But currently, I've been on the same one for months! I need a change soon.

That's really interesting about the seasons thing. I typically don't like sidebar layouts for my personal journal, but I love them for communities. The convenience of them is just fantastic, but I can understand how it can make the journal seem crowded.

I don't think I've ever, or very rarely memmed layouts so I guess I never really saw the point to it, but I definitely use my mems for pretty much anything else so I am appreciative of the feature.

I have about 100 layouts memmed. While I've had the same layout since I started (love the fuck out of it), I use the memories often when friends want their layouts changed or when they create communities and want a custom layout. I don't know much about CSS but I know enough and much more than they, so I find they come to me.
