I too had absolutely no sympathy for Stephen Collins. I guess it means DM is a hella actor, but even during the parts where Stephen was supposedly just mourning his suicidal / murdered girlfriend, even when he walked in on Call and Anne together, I just "had a bad feeling about" him.

Because all the way through Blackpool, even when it looked like Ripley was a lying, murdering SOB, I still liked the character. So yeah, yay DM's mad acting skilz.
