Finally! An episode of Ashes to Ashes that felt like maybe the show was a sequel to Life On Mars.
Great episode this week, music was chosen to suit the tone of the scene (unlike 2.02's completely random approach) the plot was good, the script was great, and it was well acted.
(Note: well acted in my books generally means Gene was back to reminding me of LOM!Gene and that I cringed over Alex's ranting in the same way I used to cringe over Sam's ranting.)
While I thought episode one of this season was also good I think this is the first episode in both series that actually put Alex's situation as a secondary plot device to the crime the team was solving (rather than having absolutely everything be about Alex and any cases the team was working on as the sub-plot). It worked beautifully in Life on Mars and I think it worked well here to.
