What I want to see someone far more talented than me write...
LIFE ON MARS - INCEPTION AU FIC
It's a pretty perfect fit when you think about it.
1) Sam could be a mark being hunted by a team who have researched him and determined the 70's are the best setting to pyschologically manipulate him.
2) The show's conclusion supports that Sam's in a coma in a hospital. How EASY would it be for a group of cons to replace an IV with a PASIV line?
3) Creepy Test Card Girl - she's so messed up she just has to be a projection (whether she's Sam's personal demon or belonging to another person in the team hunting him is up in the air ... i.e. dead daughter???)
4) Gene Hunt - Architect. He personifies 1970s Manchester... in that scene in episode 1.2 where he leaves and the "dream" starts shutting down with all the lights turning off etc.. remind you of anything?
5) Annie - Forger? Because isn't it a little bit of coincidence Sam is constantly running into people from his past or from 2006?
Frank Morgan - Extractor?
Nelson - Chemist?
Chis - Tourist ( because he's totally just along for the ride)
Ray - Point man? ( ok... perhaps not...)
Anywho I'm a little tipsy from a night out... but this just struck me as a good idea :)
