We are still using just our laptop for email and other computer functions....because we are still waiting for Dell to respond adequately to our need to get our Dell desktop unfrozen. I have no regard for Dell or their foreign outsourced techies at this point in time. Dick has talked with three different foreign techies.....two from India and one ( Read more... )

Don´t know if you´ve been following Carolyn´s (idahoswede's Dell computer woes since she got a new one just a few weeks ago but that whole company just reeks servicewise. Good luck straightening this out especially if you don´t have the proper recovery discs for it.
I guess paying the guys at Best Buy is probably your best option at this point.
:/
Just don´t get the new Windows OS installed on anything...Vista is giving more problems to people than anything I´ve ever seen before. Couple Dell with a crap OS and you have computer hell.

I did read Carolyn's Dell woes. I would think Dell won't last long if they don't clean up their act....competition etc.. It is a complicated techy world we live in today, but the worst part is feeling you are at the meercy of a company without any recourse to get proper attention or service or justice. My pet peeve.....no justice. Mrs. Do-Gooder that I am! The outsourcing issue merits some discussion also. I have mixed feelings about it. I don't really care what country or state a service person is from....just get me some results and do it nicely and efficiently. It seems to be part of our world also, this intermediary stuff between a customer and a company with varying results, often not good. There's my soap box for the day in ( ... )

Welcome to Dell Hell (hey, I never noticed that before, it's probably an omen I should have known about before I bought my Dell last month).

Dell Hell. Right on! We have decided they are not going to respond to us any more, so are just waiting for the Geek Squad to come next week. They probably have to wipe everything off the computer and start us up again as a new computer. Thank goodness we have important stuff backed up and anything removed we can do without.
