I was thinking about getting a cat, err, a kitten to be specific. I love in a small apartment, so while I would love to get a dog, it just wouldn't work out. Plus I work too far from home to really take care of him in terms of taking him out and walking him

Get a cat! Your ex and friend are wrong. Most women love cats unless they're allergic. It's a definite plus in the dating department.

A word of advice, though: If you apartment is really small and you don't have a lot of time, get an older cat, not a kitten. Kittens will tear the place up and demand all you time, whereas a cat will just mellow around and want to hang.

I am loving the icon! And regarding the kitten vs older cat, I would probably go for older, even though kittens are just too cute. I really would not want to deal with trying to train a new kitten to use a litter box. That and the fact that I if I did get a cat, I would get one from a shelter, not a pet store.

My cat's name is Purple. It isn't a stupid name. She suits it. Her full name is Purple Diva Pornstar Newscat. Diva because she can be a madam, Pornstar because she used to try to seduce us before we got her fixed, and Newscat after world-famous-in-New Zealand comedian-cum-journalist Jeremy Wells.
