On the whole, I rather enjoyed it. There were parts where I rolled my eyes and went, "Of course Moffat wrote this" because there are some beats that he is very much in love with, but, along with The Night of the Doctor, it's nice to know that he can still write a story I can enjoy for the most part
I absolutely LOVED Billie in it, no surprise. I'd suspected since the trailer that it wouldn't really be Rose, but fuck it, that moment (hah!) when Hurt calls her "Bad Wolf girl" and Ten's FACE omg. My biggest issue with it while watching was that that it could have made Rose into one of Moffat's magical mystery girls, but that was cleared up when Hurt said he wouldn't be remember these events.
I liked Hurt, I liked Hurt a lot, but I am not even going to lie, everytime I saw Hurt, Ten and Eleven together, my heart hurt because of that missing spot that is Nine. I would have given anything for Nine to have been there. My Doctor, always and forever. (God, you can just imagine what his reaction would have been to being able to save Gallifrey after that open wound of believing he destroyed it. Niiiiine...! ;_; )
I loved all the banter-y bits, because the best part of the Doctor meeting himself is always the bitching. They were all great fun together, Eleven not judging Ten with the Zygon, haha! And I actually like the Doctor's childishness as a result of his (believed) actions at the end of the Time War, which then goes on to him becoming older in his next regeneration.
Ten going into his Oncoming Storm spiel was hilarious because OF COURSE HE WOULD. And "I don't want to go!"
And surprise Twelve! When they were like, no! All Thirteen of him! And then Nine and the close-up of Capaldi's eyes, I might have rewound to watch it over again.
Plus there was Clara teaching at Coal Hill! For some strange reason. I love Clara, I really do. The back half of the last series was, err, not too good? But Jenna Louise Coleman is adorable as Clara and I loved her in this one. I can't wait to see how she and Twelve are together.
Also TOM BAKER. Not going to lie, I thought for a moment when Clara said the old man curator that they would have David Bradley as One come out but then there was a voice and my brain went OMG TOM BAKER. TOM BAKER.
