Talking about TV and Movie Stuff

Nov 17, 2010 10:48

Consider this a random post, with commentaries on a few things, and a rant about Glee.

Lets start with the movies.  I used to go to the movies all the time.  Now, I hardly do, and the movie I saw the other night is one of the big reasons.  I saw Morning Glory, starting Rachel McAdams, Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton.  And what a letdown.  Its not ( Read more... )

I sort of felt the same way when I heard about Ryan, I think he's cute but definitely not the most sexiest. And that picture they used on the cover? Was terrible.

Because, for me, its probably going to be the same 5 guys every year, with Tom Welling leading the way. I'm curious, though, who would been your five choices ( ... )

Well, there would be Tom, of course, Timothy Olyphant, Paul Walker, Jensen Ackles. Denzel Washington is a perennial favorite. And right now, I'm in LOVE with Idris Elba. Hmm, Chris Pine and Karl Urban are right up there too.

Last weeks Glee was just OK to me, but this one? Yikes! And its not due to GP, because she was pretty good. Its just the writing.

With SV, I just feel like I'm totally losing any ability to even discuss SV in a lot of places because of "...well, in the source material". And its frustrating, and aggravating.

Shirtless Tom was very nice. He's really slim now, and has been for the last 2 seasons.

Rachel McAdams is an actress I really, really like. But who instructed her to act like such a hyper ninny?

I liked her, but I agree and that seems to be the traits of nearly every female lead in a rom-com. They’re frantic and neurotic and what makes it worse was that Diane Keaton wasn’t too far from that either in the film, so now there’s two in one film acting like a spazz.

So, Ryan Reynolds is the sexiest man alive according to People magazine? Hmmm. Now, I like Ryan. And having seen him at SDCC, he's impressive in person. And his bonding with the little kid is, without question, one of the most heartwarming things at saw at SDCC. But why don't I find him sexy?

I don’t find him sexy either. Great body, but he doesn’t do it for me at all. Same for his wife: she’s a beauty, but she has zero sex appeal IMO.

Mercedes, instead of telling Kurt to go fuck himself, contritely agrees, and agrees to go try and date one of the 5 other black students at the school.

LMAO! I have to watch this.

Ending on a SV note, I have a ( ... )

The reality is that most rom-com are poorly written. Full of cliches, and stereotypes, with the same predictable endings ( ... )

His clubs are mentioned, but what clubs? Since the show cut out his connection to the club in Supergirl (which just makes that seems random), how would someone be able to make the connection?

The invite that Godfrey's assistant handed to him in the limo says that it's Desaad's Fetish Night at Maxwell's or something to that effect.

And I've heard people bring up the anti-life equation. But what does that mean to people who don't know what it is, so

I read comics and I still am not quite sure what it means.

I guess, bottom line, I think they should bring in these characters, I just think they should do a better job of it, and remember that not everyone in their audience comes into the show with an encylopedic knowledge of the DC univervse.I think they need to lessen it because the time it takes to explain it in a proper fashion, they don't have time for. They cut scenes that are necessary for the next ep (what happened to Carter explaining to Lois about Isis? Why did Desaad not show up in Supergirl?) so unless they stick to maybe ( ... )

I'd forgotten about Desaad's name on the invite. But isn't that a pretty flimsy set-up?

As for everything in your last paragraph, WORD!

SO with you on everything you said about Glee last night. I was complaining on Twitter almost to the letter about everything you pointed out here. And that purse line was lifted directly from a Will and Grace episode. I was bored/annoyed, too.

I'm really shocked that there aren't more people like you and me when it comes to last nights Glee.

Even if you could put aside the stereotypes, the rest of the episode still had problems up the yazoo.

Re : Glee. I have to say, I pretty much accepted the fact that women in general are awfully portrayed on that show imo. I’m mostly interested in the musical numbers so I judge the episodes depending on the numbers. That’s funny. « Singing in the rain” is one of my top 3 favorite movies and I was in absolute awe with the Singing in the rain number in Glee. It totally worked for me. I love their modern take on it. I found the choreography very elegant. The Chicago number was pathetic and I wouldn't want to compare their rendition of "Make em laugh" with the original ( ... )

I'm glad some of the numbers worked for you. Usually, I'm pretty easy on them, but this week, they just bugged me.

I think Kurt has become Ryan Murphy's avatar on the show. I don't mind that so much, but I just wish the writing was better.

I admit, I don't bother looking up some of the guests either anymore. One of the reasons is that its kind of pointless, when they bring someone on, and its as lame as the Silver Banshee. Non comic books fans just thought she was a lame villian. Comic books fans were disappointed because she was a lame version of a DC character.

Some of the characters they've brought in have been intriguing, i.e. Deadshot, Rick Flagg, and phasing guy from Ambush. But it just feels like overkill to me.
