Movies and TV stuff

I promised myself that I was going to try and talk about something other then Smallville here, because I'd rather not have my LJ dry up and fade away.  But truth be told, I can't think of much to talk about.  So, I decided to try the movies and television ( Read more... )

I'm so behind everything these days. I haven't been in a movie theater in ages (1 year or so). I plan on watching Thor and X Men. If that one is the best of the series, then I have to watch it!
I downloaded all Game of Thrones episodes, haven't watched yet (figures) and I'll give Falling skies a try. I'll definitely watch True blood, it's wonderfully cheesy and entertaining.
I've started a response to your 2 latest SV posts. Are you still taking comments?
Off-topic: Ugh. I miss Tom. :(

Missing Tom is never off topic. I miss Tom SO VERY MUCH! I had hoped so hard that he would announce another project right away, but alas...

Missing him breaks my heart.

True Blood is one of those shows that I think I should watch, and I keep trying, but I can't quite get into it. Part of my problem is that I completely dislike Anna Paquin.

I'm loving Game of Thrones, and I'm feeling very protective of Ned. And becoming irritated that the people over at TWoP don't seem to understand how the feudal -post Magna Carter medievil England (which Game of Thrones is based on) works.

Let me offer you a word to the wise...TWoP seems to attract a lot of people who think they are smart and witty, but really aren't at all. I hope there's another place for you to discuss the show, because I keep wishing that site would go down in flames.

I love Ned too, but as much as you can admire his honorable nature, its just so damned foolish given his situation. I want to hug him, and shake him, at the same time. There was a very telling line he had a few episodes back when he said the Cersei "I was trained to kill my enemies". The problem is that he didn't recognize who his enemies were.

One of the things I love is that you see parts of Ned in the Stark children, particularly Robb, Jon and Arya (I'm convinced Sansa is adopted).

LOL I should know better- but there is no other place :(
It really should be shut down, because the same views keep being ad nausem ( and they won't shut up about Smallville). I can't help feeling that one of the main problems is that Ned hasn't had the time to cultivate friendships, that would be useful to him, Littlefinger still holds a grudge ove Cat...which means he's going to be no help whatsoever.

But Jon, Arya, Robb are all their father's children, Robb especially now he's leading Stark forces- I can see young Ned being just like that.

Sansa apparently is like her mother a lady of the South, but I don't know about Bran or Rickon.

Its become the place where the most unpleasant people gather and try to out nasty each other because they think that equals smart and witty. And the site reviewers are no better.

But, enough about that. Hopefully another board will crop up somewhere.

I think Ned just isn't built for this sort of double dealing, backstabbing intrigue. Its not in his DNA, so he can't understand it, which makes him vulnerable to it.

Littlefinger is a mean little bastard. Would love to see him meet a nasty end.

For the last few years, I've only been to the movies now and then. But this summer, we decided to be more proactive about it. But we'll see if we can keep this up.

I've always heard great things about FNL, but I've never watched it. I guess I should've.

Good for you, taking a class. I know it hurts, but its such a good thing to get in some exercise.

If you do ever decide to give it a go, let me know. I might be tempted to do a rewatch. BtVS remains my favorite show of all time, and I don't think anything will really top that, but FNL comes a pretty close second.

I don't see movies in theaters nearly enough; it's something I want to do more of this summer. I did go see Bridesmaids with my sister, and I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long, long time. I was a little nervous about it, because although I think Apatow-produced movies are hilarious, some of them have been too crude for my taste, but nothing in Bridesmaids made me cringe. Or at least not in a bad way. :) I absolutely agree that Melissa McCarthy stole the show, and Kristen Wiig was great. I also adored the cop character, especially because I'm a sucker for an Irish accent ( ... )

Wasn't the cop in Bridesmaids great? I know he's a bit too good to be true, but poor Kristen Wigg's life sucks so much, you kind of don't care. Its a really good movie to see with your sister, I think.

I also always wish Judd Apatow would cast Tom in a movie. Of course, I wish ANYONE would cast Tom in a movie.

I'm glad you liked Paul. I'm always afraid that I'm going to recommend something, and then people will hate it. But I thought Paul was adorable.

Thanks for the link to the Ned Stark meme. Its so true, sadly. In the hands of a less skillful actor then Sean Bean, I think you could sort of hate Ned.

I think when SV ended, I had so many bad feelings about the show overall that I wanted to remember reasons why I loved it so much. So, thats why I'm sort of randomly rewatching stuff. So the memories are happier.

I look forward to your contributions on the favorite scenes. I'm sure you'll pick really interesting scenes.

I think the pace of The Killing is something thats always going to be polarizing. If you can manage to really get into the show, and the characters, then its not likely to bother you. But I find myself unable to really engage, so I'm not being drawn into it in the way that, I think, you need to for the pacing to work.

If all that makes sense, LOL

If there was a S2, I really don't think I'd watch it.
