Compressed Vacation

For most of the years of my daughter’s childhood, we rented a house for two weeks in southern Maine. Emily’s friends and their moms would sometimes visit. Some of our relatives and almost-relatives would come for a few days to relax and smell and hear the ocean. There are so many great memories. Yes, one does try to relish every moment. There is nothing quite like having a child, no matter the age, asleep in the house. Such simple things are huge.

Mmmm, scallops... and yay for compressed vacations! We are just back from one ourselves, and we were talking about how things will soon change with oldest entering his last year of high school. Which, as you know, is a happy and sad thing all at the same time. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, as sometimes happens, when I said what I wanted, Emily said, That was what I was going to order. We considered splitting two things, but nothing seemed as good as the scallops! And, yes, seeing them grow is good, and the purpose of it all, but there's an ache.
