Finally got to really talk to my (across the street) neighbor who runs the Inner Ear recording studio in Arlington. Back in the 80s his recording studio was in his basement. This was when he was recording stuff for Minor Threat and Fugazi. He showed me a picture of Henry Rollins in his basement wearing a tu-tu. That's so friggin' cool.

Last Saturday (St. Patrick's Day): Went to Fado, a lovely Irish pub in Chinatown to watch the Six Nations rugby tournament with my Co-worker Jenny and her buddies. I went with colinmac and pastorsaturn and had a blast. We got there at 8am and I started out with some coffee and a full Irish breakfast (yay black and white pudding!). I only like a few stand-up comedians, in particular Eddie Izzard and Margaret Cho. Eddie I've been following closely since his HBO special (Dressed to Kill) in 1999. Who else works in the Russian front, Pol Pot, NASA, Henry the VIII and beekeeping into a stand-up routine? No one I tell you.

When someone tries to convince you that boiled silkworm pupae taste just like lima beans, don't believe them -- they taste like boiled bugs. My coworker brought some into the office today for people to try. I had to quickly chase it down with a thin mint cookie.

I'm not sure what's worse, working out next to someone smelling of BO and stale cigarettes or someone reeking of perfume (today was BO+ciggies). Bleh.

It's weird having such a different hair cut that people at work don't recognize you for a few seconds. It's much shorter now (chin length bob) and with bangs. I'm not quite used to it yet. Oh, and I've lost nearly 20 pounds -- just a better understanding of portion sizes, limiting the booze and chocolate intake and continuing the exercise. I ( Read more... )
