Being a male, for the most part, I can give some perspective on this issue, as I am/was/will be one of those men. For some strange reason males cannot regulate blood sugar. Maybe it's the years of damaging our liver and pancreas with alcohol, or just not eating properly. And we all know low glucose low energy.
The other side to this coin is "the wanting". If I know I'm going to do something at the end of the day I will snack accordingly. Chocolate bars, coffee or cans of coke are not the right kind of snack. If I want to do something with/to somebody, or if it is important to somebody that I be present, then measures can be taken.
The real indicator is the weekend. If your man wants to sit around on the weekend then very little will change his energy level, have some fine meals, some adequate, but not enthusiastic sex (on his part) and keep looking.
