I hate how everyone came to the conclusion that former Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza did what he did for money. He was not asking for money, he was asking to be reinstated. For a man who was as loyal to his job and put all his life into it1,2 it was a big blow to be dismissed from it. It was his life. He was looking forward to serving the end of ( Read more... )

Well said, Jerica. Ako naman naiinis sa mga tao na feeling nila napaka-know-it-all nila kaysa SWAT at PNP tapos they go on blaming the police for everything. :|

It doesn't matter that he was releasing hostages unharmed, since he shouldn't have taken anyone captive in the first place; and he certainly shouldn't have killed anyone, even if it was for his brother's sake: no one has the right to take anyone else's life away. I understand that he was doing what he thought he had to do, but that still doesn't make any of his actions right.

Hello, Anon-who-didn't-even-leave-a-name-or-e-mail-address-or-a-website-link-so-I-have-no-clue-of-knowing-if-this-reply-reaches-you-or-maybe-you-don't-want-to-be-replied-to. First of all, I never said his actions were right. Second of all, you think he was extremely rational in doing what he did?

How dare you say that it doesn't matter that he was releasing hostages unharmed. You would rather have them all stay in there in the van, until he starts shooting, and then added on by the very much unprepared SWAT Team kill them all with stray bullets? I don't understand how you can say "no one has the right to take anyone else's life away" with "It doesn't matter that he was releasing hostages unharmed" in the same breath. Maybe you should rethink your argument.

Clearly, you didn't understand the point of this post. I was considering this from the bigger picture. Yes, what he did was wrong. Yes, he set it all up. But no, it could have ended in another way, if it was handled by the media and the SWAT team with care. It wasn't.
