People realize that. But in the music business (emphasis on the business) the fact that you write your stuff doesn't put you on some pedestal automatically. Whatever sounds good to the public will sell and many musicians and writers have one portion of the music down but are lacking another part. Music's no longer about throwing a song out there, with access to so much talent it's almost unresponsible if you neglect to really fix, clean and shine your music.

More than ever it's rare that anyone can write, compose, record, produce and perform their music. Collaboration is much more efficient.

Also, there's so much musical diversity out there and so many programs and mediums bringing us music, it seems that the top of the charts don't matter anymore. Sure, you need to sell albums to make money but there are so many different ways to be heard now (like myspace) and gather a following. And for that reason not everything that sells is as packaged as it had to be in the days of the boyband.

However a good question is whether or not your listeners are buying stuff or free-downloading. Everyone freeloads so I'd wonder how much of a profit the music industry is turning compared to just a decade ago.

im goooood, im just annoyed. i love music too much to see non talented people sell records, its very discouraging. umm what else....yea we still live near eachother i guess, i havent moved :p andrew does not have a red car must be another look alike, our long lost triplet i presume. it wasnt too long and rambly, things are great, hopefully same for you.

blehh im in school with tons of free periods and nothing to do haha. how many of you guys are out there?! & im just happy that i stumbled upon amazing music and i am no longer listening to z100. except alt, indie,etc is mainstream now & "in" which annoys me. as long as conor oberst&jenny lewis never "sell out" =]
