I just got an e-mail forward from my grandparents about how we should drill in ANWR and about how the democrats are artificially raising gas prices and how the ANWR coastal plain is a barren useless wasteland and about how the caribou and the polar bears don't really mind the drilling ( Read more... )

the best part is a picture of a grizzly bear (or brown bear at any rate) walking on top of the oilpipeline like a balance beam, with the sarcastic caption, "HEY, THIS BEAR SEEMS TO REALLY HATE THE PIPELINE"

i hate caps lock so much. it should not have been invented

Just hate the people that use it to make their well structured logical arguments in large letters.

The thing with ANWR is I could understand if it was a barren wasteland full of rocks like kuwait or what not. But if talk to anyone who has ever been there first hand, they will tell you it is nothing like that. In fact, ask any alaskan period what it actually looks up there and its pretty beautiful from what I understand. So that whole theory is debunked as far as I can tell.

Even if it was a barren land of nothing, there isnt a whole hell of a lot of oil up there. I know we don't know how much is up there for sure because there hasnt been proper estimates but come on, it's not like there is magically going to be a saudi size oil reserve sitting under ANWR and we just cant tell. So we really wouldnt be gaining a lot if we did drill and get oil because we'd be just as dependent as before.

And of course demos have been using nothing but smoke and mirrors to elevate gas prices because none of us drive. Ever. So the price of gas has no effect on us what so ever.
