Okay, over my upcoming Christmas break, I plan on reading lots and lots of books because I'll finally be able to.  I need to make up for a semester of not having any time to read/feeling guilty if I read for pleasure instead of working on homework.  Does anyone have any suggestions for me?  I'll try just about any genre of book at least once, ( Read more... )

You should read the His Dark Materials trilogy by Philip Pullman. They're called The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spygless.

I think you bought me the first one for Christmas or something a couple years ago. I haven't read it, but I've been meaning to.

I could always tell you to read Love Inspired novels and Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys, since those books rock, but I'm actually going out on a limb and give you another suggestion: The Guardians of Ga'Hoole series. (wow I didn't mean for the pun). They're by Kathryn Lasky and the first book is called The Capture. They are children's books but really good (easy reads too). You could also read any Nicholas Sparks books, too! If I think about any other ones I'll let you know!

Are those the books that you, your mom and Bri read together?

Yepperz! Do you have a problem with that? ;) They are really cute and both my mom and I think you would enjoy them.

I just bought this book for my sister for Christmas, and it is a WONDERFUL book about mental illness... it is actually an autobiography and one of the funniest books I have ever read...

Running with Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.

OMG! I was in stitches the whole time I read it. My therapist actually lent it to me, but it was GREAT!! I suggest it to everyone and they really enjoy it!!

I just ordered it from my library back home! Hopefully it will come in while I'm still on break so that I can read it.

i think you should read these books...blood and chocolate, the silver kiss, and alien secrets all by Annette Curtis Klause. Maria got me addicted to them maria says u like buffy so i think u'll love these books they kinda go together but aren't based on each other or anything so don't worry about order but i strongly recomend u read them in the order listed...hope u enjoy

Thanks for the advice. I've heard of the first book, but I've never gotten a chance to read it.

I think I might have read the first one a couple of years ago, but I can't really remember, so I think I'll re-read it.
