Star Wars Gets Slap-Happy

And the reason why I just vommitted my summary about talking to Star Wars writers (below) at ComicCon was really to add context to my heavy discontent about recent developments in the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series as surmised by Tricia the FanGirl at FanGirlBlog.com.

This isn't a game, it's a book series. The most recent game, The Old Republic, actually took a redheaded character and made her a woman of color. The comics are also full of relatively diverse characters and have leads of color. (Except for Invasion, where leads of color were planned and then replaced with blondes. =/)

Dude I would love to see an excerpt of this. So sad.

Remember when Anakin hitting Padme was supposed to highlight the height of his depravity and loss of his soul? Well, apparently to his grandson, it's foreplay.

Ugh. I cannot seem to stop reading new Star Wars books, but I have long since stopped buying them.

I haven't read any Fate of the Jedi but I am tempted to read this one (not pay for it, but read it) just to see how horrible it can get.

It's had a lot of ups and downs. My primary disappointment is that they're aiming to transition toward the grim, gritty legacy comics status quo, and that freight-train notion overrides other plot and character concerns,
