walking the walk is nearly as important as talking the talk. however, in light of the hugely increased awareness and changes being made by individuals and corporations since the release and success of an inconvienent truth, talking the talk is clearly pretty important to this issue. change takes time (and commitment), but change can't happen at all until there is awareness. just because paramount was footing the bills to make the production carbon neutral, doesn't in any way detract from the fact that it was a carbon neutral production. JMHO.
We are all, ultimately, only responsible for ourselves. Whistleblowers like Gore will typically come under much closer scrutiny than Joe Bob at the local power plant. I also seriously doubt that Gore is personally responsible for the purchasing and installing of the light bulbs in all the fixtures of his three properties. I just found the article amusing in a sardonic sort of way.
It deflates Gore's message if he doesn't live up to what he wants others to live up to. People will scoff and say he really doesn't care all that much, so why should we. I've heard it all day long on the radio (well, morning drive time and afternoon drive time, NOT the idiot in between, who thank goodness I avoided today but I'm sure said the same thing.) If he wants to preach to the rest of us, he needs to make changes to his life as well.
