quick question for the ladies

Can anyone suggest a nice gentle facewash that doesn't try out your skin??  My skin is always so dry as it is, and I feel like the few facewashes I've tried make my face even drier.  I always hate that the bottles last for so long, so if I don't like it I usually end up using it anyway for a while just to get rid of it.  I don't need anything super ( Read more... )

Ummm...I've been using Aveeno. Don't know what kind specifically, but it came in a green bottle. I don't if it makes my skin drier, but I still definitely need lotion after a shower.

I use a lotion from Origins, and it works pretty well. It's the Have A Nice Day. It has an SPF 15, but doesn't smell bad at all. And it doesn't leave me feeling greasy. So I was thinkig about buying my next bottle of face wash from them.

If you find something really good, TELL ME! =D

Oooh, thankya! I will take a look at those. I feel like it'll take a while for me to actually decide on one! Good thing I've got all of Spring Break to shop for this stuff.

I just got a new face cream/lotion from Bath & Body Works, I forget what brand it is but it was fairly expensive. I splurged a bit because I was reeeallly desperate for a nice soft face lotion, and it works wonders.

They just opened a Sephora in the mall at home, which I'm really excited about. It's a huuuge store, and I haven't had time to check it out yet (because I'm afraid I'll spend too much moolah there, lol). I'll scope it out and let you know what I find!

Man, I love to shop! I never get to at NP, because this town only sells three things: tie-dye shirts, incense, and bongs. XDD

I LOVE SEPHORA!!!!! I threw away all my old make up last year, and spent a ton there and at Origins for replacements. XD I've actually been window shopping there the past few weeks. But then my horoscope told me to budget, so I've been resisting temptation. But I think I can narrow it down to the necessities. :P

P.S. Random explanation for my icon. I haven't used that Percy one in awhile. And I made it applicable by imagining that he is looking at my shopping list. LOL!

My currant make-up collection is embarrassingly small, and none of it is particularly nice, mostly because I don't wear it much/don't really know how to use it properly, lol. BUT I always love window-shopping for it. :D

Bwahaa, I thought you were gonna say something about Percy in drag for some reason...I think I liked the idea of you and him shopping together much better. XDD

I'm pretty bad at buying girlish things too. However, my skin is really easily irritated because I have eczema, so I know where you're coming from.

If you have the option, go for something that has Vitamin E or aloe in it, since these will help moisturize your skin and stop it from drying up. Steer clear of anything with a lot of peroxide in it. (bleach + sensitive skin = not good)
I tend to use cleansers/washes that don't do anything besides clean my pores, because the chemicals in the medicated stuff do really bizarre things to my skin.

Ooh, good tips! I should make a list of this stuff so I don't forget!

Yeah the stuff I'm using now (Clean & Clear or Neutrogena or something) just smells so strong, like rubbing alcohol or something. That can't be a good sign!! ACK, I need professional help in this department. :P

For awhile I used... oh man, what the heck was it called. Cetaphil! It's got a really nasty consistency, like snot or semen (delicious, no?), but it makes your skin really soft and it doesn't clog your pores ("non-comedogenic" I believe is the term *adjusts glasses and lab coat*). I haven't used it in a long time but I'm sure it's really good for dry skin. It's not medicated or anything though so I dunno if you're looking for an acne thing.

Cuz I too am a dry-skin sickie with eczema I always lube up after showers and face-washes, and at home I always used... CRAP! Brand names elude me today! Oh yeah, Vaseline Intensive Care lotion, but I think I'm gonna look for something else and move on, because it's petrolium-based and apparently that's not so good to use all the time. So look for a lotion that's glycerin-based, or has something like olive oil or olive extract in it!

Sweeeeet. Thanks for racking your brain for the names, lol. And yeah, I don't really want anything medicated (I think that's what dries my skin out so much, mayhaps), just something for dry skin that will actually last all day. :D
