I actually really dislike Poe nowadays. I dislike all writers that are too verbose. I think it kinda kills the writing. But thats just my taste, I'm pretty unsophisticated.

I find that the beauty of writing is not in the story, but in the words.

I wouldn't call Poe's writing beautiful, not at all, just very, very verbose. I think beauty is in sparsity, and in immediacy. Poe just throws around a lot of big, fancy words, so it sounds nice, but is really meaningless.

I'd say that there is a lot of meaning in Poe's writing. The meaing, however, is not where I find the beauty. I find the beauty in the words themselves, how it sounds, not what it means.
